Decent write up - I haven’t seen anything of him. So I have no commentary to add on the kid as a player.

However, I actually think decision making and composure in space are two of the easiest things to iron out, so long as it’s rectified early in their career. This is an area that can be coached and fixed in a good system. Just watching Freijah this year I thought his decision making was iffy at the start of the year but improved 10 fold.

Fumbles in traffic are more of a concern. For whatever reason it seems very hard to coach. It is often the difference between a vfl player and an afl player.

Unconventional - but I reckon any players that can’t handle the ball in congestion should do some rugby league training. If you fumble/second guess yourself in league you get yourself or a team mate smashed.
One of the knocks I had on Poulter in his early games was that he often got into trouble in traffic (but looked good in space). However he seemed to improve on this aspect of his game as 2024 progressed.

So maybe there’s even hope for that?

Certainly no expert, but I get the feeling this guy is just gonna be dependable.

Probably not the highest ceiling, but his floor is so high compared to most.
Having watched 1-2 minutes of his highlights I am now an expert on all things Jaques …

I reckon he plays a lot like Easton Wood.

St Joey's boy from down my way. I know a couple of his school teachers and he is a good kid and always been a leader through school from a young age. Club is definitely targeting kids with these qualities. Seems to be a trend with the new social media times we live in.

Cool. Hope he's a better kick (this almost HAS to be true, regardless ).

I wonder how they would have assessed Bailey Smith on those criteria in his draft year?

Would they have spotted the narcissistic streak or would they have simply been impressed by how hard he works and how determined he was to get the best put of himself?

To put it another way, is this emphasis on leadership and good character a direct consequence of the Bailey Smith saga, or is it because it's just a good thing to do and improves the culture of the place?
