An interesting perspective and probably true from a strict 'assets-on-the-club's-balance sheet' view; but isn't there some kind of value increase to be realised when 2nd team assets are promoted to the 1sts, at least in terms of testing them out in a faster-paced and higher-general-skills environment?

If we don't expose them early enough, how can we tell if they'll make the grade? If we wait too long, isn't there a risk also that we end up bringing them into a side that's no longer being as successful as we seem to be at the moment? Realise that too much change would be counter-productive, but might be worth the limited gamble against NMFC?

My sincerest apologies for disturbing your higher stream of consciousness with the concerns of lesser beings, oh great and mighty Archpriest of The Cult of Ancient Trolls!
That’s OK, but don’t do it again or I’ll unleash the seven hells upon your feeble earth man body.

I’d rather not go into a big game or the finals where we’re a midfield injury away from a debutant and or a player who’s only played one game as the medi sub this season.

Yeah, Pickett was such a disastrous debut for Richmond that we should all be wary.

Have to be ruthless and go for the kill here. Our percentage is 106.1% (11th highest in the league).

After what happened against West Coast earlier in the year, there shouldn't be any reason for complacency.

Since Round 5, North have lost all their games in excess of 47 points.

I’m all for players getting senior opportunities. Especially love a debutant. What I prefer though is that it’s

1. When there’s a vacancy; and
2. When they’ve earned it.

The suggestion I responded to was about artificially creating the vacancy, and I’m not convinced either have earned their opportunity yet.

Different if someone had to be promoted, you’d take the opportunity.

I hope you're wrong but fear you're right.

Another way of looking at it is that Beau McC over his last 5 games for us has averaged roughly 70% TOG. Suggests that a huge tank is probably not as critical as may be thought?

What chance his TOG% is as much a reflection of the pace he goes at across the TOG he gets rather than the lack of a tank? Would we prefer he reduces his attack on game in order to gain a bit more TOG?

Never suggested he doesn't possess a good tank; No doubt he does.

To answer your questions directly, though:
1. A high probability
2. Absolutely not

Not the point that was being made though.

We need midfield depth and North Melbourne is probably the perfect team to introduce that.
We need to just keep picking the best team to win the game.
JC is not currently in the best 22.

Missing this match unfortunately

I would like to see Moore rested and see Kelly play.

Not a fan but need this kid to get some games in case need in finals

Ignore the overly conservative types on here… many of them would still have Buckley coaching

Time to circulate the squad a little.

Give 1-2 players who are carrying a niggle the week off… and give some of Carmichael, Macrae, Poulter a game… it’s not like their VFL form is poor

Otherwise we are relying only on the Browns and Madgen as our AFL experienced depth who have played AFL under Fly - yikes 😳

We are playing now for finals and finals success. Our list remains paper thin when it comes to depth. That can't be remedied in 7 games. Shuffling the team now with a view to creating that depth won't help. It is an all or nothing situation. The selectors have to continue with the policy they have followed all year. Play the best team they can put forward each week and pray for a short injury list. After a few early hiccups, their prayers have been answered so far. They have to run with it.
I am as keen as anyone to see what the likes of Johnson and Carmichael are worth, but they will just have to wait until a gap opens up. Our year probably depends on that not happening.

This game will determine our safety in the top eight. Lose this and it'll be harder as we'll drop percentage when we really need to up it. I want us qualified for finals by the time Round 21 swings around. A loss would not be good for morale. The game really should be wrapped up by the third quarter, too.

2 things you don't flirt with. Winning form and the daughter of your boss.

Suggesting a rest for a bunch of players in the face of a weak opposition goes against all that McRae has talked about all year. We are process-driven and we worry about our controllables, what we are doing, not the opposition.

A rest 2 games after the bye doesn't make sense. If players really do need a rest, do it later - maybe Essendon or Port with the 6 day breaks.

Exactly. So many people are getting way ahead of themselves. We haven’t made finals. Adel in adel is a hard game. Ess are improving. We have syd, geel and Carlton to play. We aren’t playing finals yet and already talking of resting
