That's the spirit, I hope to build up to that sort of confidence by Sunday. I was feeling like you last Friday, at the moment you umm don't wanna know.
I was considering being confident but of course Ace The Hammer would start with the "getting ahead of myself" stuff, so I'll cringe in the corner and presume us beaten.

Heard this earlier in the week as well. Interesting this is being done now and not at the end of the year.

Great call I think, should be in the rotations soon, such a bull at the contest and great at selecting the right exit.

Get him in!

If so, one of Dow or Setterfield are definitely getting traded. Prob Dow.

Yep. I would normally be the captain-coach of the "don't get ahead of ourselves". I don't post about it, but I feel it.

But these Eagles are not much good, personnel or not. Their game plan is outmoded - it is the same slow-pinpoint, slow-backwards-switch style that saw them crash out of finals contention in the second half of last year, even with a fullish list. I watched their Essendon game on the off-chance they'd knock the Bombers off, and whilst I was duly gratified, it would have to be said that even this 2022 iteration of Essendon dominated the first two-thirds of the game. They just couldn't convert that on the scoreboard, and of course they gave up cheap goals in the opposite direction, like they have all year.

I hope Weitering is fit for Kennedy, just because he might be a bit too smart for our other talls. But we really shouldn't lose this one.

Exactly. Marshall had a career high 12 marks despite missing a good chunk of the game with concussion protocols. Yes Kemp is undersized, but needs to do a lot of work on his positioning before he's going to displace anybody on our defence.

Yep it's not a fair match up for Kemp but he really did get dominated in the air including on the lead by Marshall and Ryder, even that contest with Membrey...his performances shouldn't leave anyone shocked or upset to see him dropped.

Some are going back to 'hey this former high draft pick kid has potential lets just play him' and willing to ignore their weaknesses, and older players performing better.

Kind of like Dow over the years.

If Hayes sticks they'll convert Newnes list position to that of a younger player.

Newnes may move into a coaching role.

Watch this space.
What if we delisted both of them and drafted an outside mid to develop? Surely Carroll and Philp can rotate in at this point...

Either way that's apparently why he hasn't come in for Boyd.

Its odd because there is a spot for the taking in defence while he is well back in the midfield pecking order. Though I guess if he was considered next in as a defender they wouldnt play him as a reserves mid.

As much as I think Stock could make it as an onballer I'm not sure he is the type that adds to our midfield. Another big contested mid that is slow and lacks fitness. Would be competing with Kennedy for a spot or Cripps in case on injury. Couldn't replace any of the others as would throw us out of balance.

Agree with this take for the Essendon game. However the Eagles were very solid against Geelong at home the week prior and also really should have been a lot closer to or even beaten Richmond if they had of converted. We should win if we want to play finals though, pretty stock standard equation.

Could well happen. Just makes sense to give Hayes a chance to prove it or lose it.

Both could make way if we find a budget option that suits the game style better with Carroll and/or Philp retaining that youthful spot on the pecking order.

In Austin we trust.

Considering how imbalanced he made the list, and what he spurned in the mid-season draft to correct for it, I don't think trust is what I have for the man's abilities.

If I'm going to have back-up wing right now, it's Carroll. If I want an emergency option, Philp fits the bill for me, but he needs a lot of education on the role. Can play off HF pushing in ala Fisher but needs to learn a few game systems better.

Oh for a team experienced enough that kids can come in and just play with freedom in some spots while they learn the style of play.

I used to think this way.

List was already imbalanced when he got here.

We took the cream of the crop in 2015 and I can't recall hitting the draft for genuine KPs since except for project TDK. There were years before he came.

My belief is that Austin has targeted best available while finding need picks without spending the earth on them (Young).

His job is incomplete but he's building a stronger list, I think that's undeniable at this point.

In my opinion:

Setterfield delisted

Dow traded to North for a token fourth-round selection or maybe retained solely as depth.
