Murphy needs to get that coached out of his game. Crazy brave but completely unnecessary given Howe had the sit for the spoil. Dunno how it can be done though.

It's a tough one. What if he sits back in a crucial contest late in a final and the opposition takes a mark he could have spoiled?

When approaching a contest like that you're never going to know if your teammate is in a position to have it covered.

At the end of the day I'm just in awe of his courage and pray that he is able to stay fit and not hurt himself.

Disagree on Ginnivan. When the ball was down there he was everywhere. 2 snags a week is elite for a small forward.

Would like to see him not looking to the umps all the time but he should have had at least one more free.

I missed the first quarter, so didn't see the goals. That one where he should have gotten a free, he also shouldn't have played for one and should've tried to snap a goal.

What a depressing reaction to a great win
That was a 'great' win? They pulled themselves together for the last quarter and they did that well. My dissatisfaction is that they did not start with the sort of endeavour that any AFL game demands. NM might have been on the bottom but their players are not complete duds. It started in the middle where we had no penetration from the centre bounces. The game against Melbourne was a great win. Beating WC in Perth in 2020 was a great win today was just a win.

That's why we are looking at McStay. Mihocek and Henry, are mid sized forwards, who need support from a big key position forward, and that's McStay....
Does McStay actually do much as a KPF? I watched Brisbane a couple of weeks back and was unimpressed by him. Krueger might make a difference if he ever manages to play a block of games between injuries.

I wouldn’t term it a lucky win. Maybe lucky in the sense that it was North we had to bridge the gap on but we got the rotten end of luck the whole way through and were the dominant side in the last quarter when the result was on the line.
I wouldn’t have described it as lucky either but it doesn’t come across as a salty interpretation.

He is really only potentially valuable. He has kicked some important last quarter goals but needs to do a lot more over the course of a game.
Yes but that potential is huge. What he and Ginnivan have been producing as deep forwards is awesome considering how far they have to develop physically

happy to bolster our stocks in all those positions
i just mean that adams being our only in and under grunt player bothers me more than mihocek being our only kpf
Even when Adams is winning possessions, his disposal kills momentum time and again. Unfortunately I don't think we will be replacing him anytime soon. Carmichael showed something today and is worth another game. Lipinski is not an inside mid and is too slow for an outside role. I am not of the opinion that he was a great pick up though he has had his moments this year. He didn't cost us much and on days like today it's all too easy to see why.

I do agree, but we are missing two of our best stoppage players, and it was made more damaging because we were also missing the most important part of our defence so those quick entries from the centre were far more damaging than normal.

Although Goldstein and the NM 2nd ruck started well, Cox gave us a lift once he went into the ruck and took some important marks in the 2nd half, while Cameron kicked 3 valuable goals in the absence of a KPF. Grundy needs to return with a renewed sense of purpose and show that his centre clearance game is not entirely confined to the past. Neither Cameron or Cox should be dropped to make way for him. Cameron can play permanently up forward given how light on we are for height in attack.

Well he would attract the number 1 defender, currently Mihocek is getting the bigger defenders on him, as the key forward, like McKay today, and at times Henry may play as the key forward. McStay would be good support for both Mihocek and Henry. Krueger has shown some promise, but even at his time with Geelong, just struggles to stay on the park. Hopefully he can get a good run at it next season. I think McStay would definitely serve a purpose in our F50....

absolutely
i guess thats why some of us had such high hopes for the bear, but alas ;)

Cox was ordinary at the start, so was Cameron l guess. Cox did take 5 or 6 intercept marks, so l thought he really lifted in the second half and Cameron finished with 3 goals, drifting forward. Redemption from both in the second half....

First quarter they were smashed but so were our mids.

They're very good around the ground rucks, but we're getting smashed around stoppage. It'd be nice if we can make all 3 work somehow.

Our midfield don't exactly help to make our rucks look competent at clearances. Crisp was non existent throughout the game and Adams only came good in the last. But other than Adams, we don't have any hard nosed ball getters extracting the pill from the packs.

Why not try beau in there?

He will get traded at year end .. so you will need to find a new whipping boy. .. Adam’s perhaps?
No whipping boy, McRae is building a unit.
The only time Collingwood have been successful in the modern era is when an outsider comes in to coach and create a new culture
