Sorry for the late preview guys, I've been travelling and spent most of the week driving back from SA.
Teams:
Analysis (brief):
Despite the roof falling in last week, losing to the Bombers by barely a kick despite having almost half the team out, it was still close. Yes, our vulnerabilities were shown up but in theory it'll be interesting to see if we can react to that unlike how we didn't react during the game.
GWS on the other hand REALLY had the roof fall in last week. Getting absolutely smashed by Port and showing a common level of ineffectiveness, the shine on McVeigh as an interim coach has well and truly worn off with him now apparent as "more of the same".
Fort vs Flynn is a pretty uninspiring ruck competition, but our more effective combo of Neale, McCluggage and yes, Lyons should win out over Coniglio and Hopper's MO of just get the ball on their boot. Tom Green
is scarier but seems to have been sidelined with the resurgence of Coniglio. GWS has still only beaten Hawthorn and lower on the ladder and that's not a fluke.
Their forward line is basically Hogan and Greene, and Toby's in a slump while Hogan is an occasionally effective shadow of himself. Our defensive seven really should be able to shut them down, along with guys like Riccardi and Haynes who have shown next to no form. It's not like our forwards have been that effective either, but surely we should get enough entries to kick a winning score.
Again, I still think the most interesting part will be to see how we react to last week. If we come out with either more pressure or a different set-up, it could bode well for the rest of the year. If neither happens, I still think we'll win this week but we might want to plan for an early offseason.
