If Petty had covid it's not implausible that a few of the others test positive over the next week or so as well.

Not that it would happen but I would prefer Bowey over Salem at the moment. Salem isn't a great defender. And his skills aren't being utilized at the moment. Just playing safe football, slow and down the line. His inside 50 kick on the weekend to miss ben brown out on a lead wasn't good enough.
Oliver and Petty back in. Assuming Lever might be out and would drop sparrow or Jordon.

Momentum, that's what I think about when I think of Jake Melksham.
He's building baby, he's building.
There was nothing to see of Mount Melksham, the land was barren, no sign of life, but look at him now, look at him go!
I haven't seen Aliir Aliir get so comprehensively SPANKED since Josh Schache monstered him in last year's prelim.
(That might because I haven't seen Aliir Aliir play since, but I digress)
That tackle? Magnificent.

Melksham is IN for me.

Obvious change is Petty in for an unlucky Tomlinson.

Who Oliver replaces is trickier. Maybe for Bedford, who has had a quiet month, but that messes up our forward pressure. Maybe Melk, who had a stronger last quarter was was overall pretty invisible.

I think Tomlinson will stay in. I don't think he did anything to deserve to be dropped, and certainly performed as well as Petty, and therefore should be rewarded. Petty might come in if Lever is injured though. I like Petty, but I think the culture they want to build is reward for effort.

Big issue for Melbourne has been forward pressure, they leaked a few goals to Geelong because they could not trap the ball in the 50 and even in other games the ball just gets out too easily. Melksham should stay as I thought his forward pressure was good. Bedford will need to make way for Oliver I feel.

Fritsch should be getting a massive spray, I think he has cost the team a goal in the last three games by not passing it (maybe he could watch Melksham's replay). But at the end of the day he will stay.

I think Brown is doing a good job, in contested marks he is bringing the ball to the ground more often than not.

I don't see large changes, Oliver is a no brainer and it seems that the forward 50 pressure issue is something they are trying to address with this setup. I like Jackson or Gawn resting down there as well.

The defence is good, Salem needs games, the problem is the speed of the ball coming out of the forward line for me.

Oliver for Bedford
Petty for Lever (if injured)

Agree Tomlinson was great and deserves his spot but perhaps as a forward? Think he has played there before for GWS.

I cant see Petty not returning this week

Does anyone else think the whole Selfish Fritsch is absolute bullshit?
Like yeah he probably should've passed to Petracca a few weeks back but other than that he's just backing himself to kick goals , he just needs to be a bit cleaner. He's a forward ffs, they should be backing themselves to kick goals and obviously you win games by kicking more goals than the oppo. Hardly selfish if it wins games
God I hated it back in the day when we would over possess the ball in the 50 to the point where it ends up back in the oppo hands.

Anyway this post also shows how good he is

Lol yeah the same bloke criticizing him was probably standing and applauding Kozi kicking goals out of his arseh*le all day. Can't have it both ways. I think Fritta should back himself in anytime he can see the goal same as Koz. Trac aswell.

Don't mind him taking pot shots but if there's a player in an obviously better position like on their own in the square then he needs to pass.

Over on The Western™️ board, they have Hannan playing as a half-back flanker, as a "strong body" who can play forward and get physical with May, and as a second ruckman...

Can we retroactively trade him to the Dogs for three first-rounders? What a guy!

If he tries to find Spargo and misses the same campaigners complaining would be saying just kick the goal **** we burn the ball etc.

A great example of that was Port on the weekend. I think they started around 50 out of the left hand side of the 50 then went all the way around to the right side, then a crap kick in.

I would never bemoan anyone taking a shot, snap or otherwise, if they are under pressure. But he is an accomplished player under little pressure, you need to reward work rate and players getting into the right spots. Otherwise they stop doing that and that is no good for the team.

That is the cutthroat nature of AFL. You get a chance and take it then it is all smiles. You don't then nobody is happy. But once you choose to burn others you have to take that chance.

Just like having a shot outside 50 and choosing a torpedo I believe Hunt commented that he would have got blasted if he did that in free play and didn't score on the Gus and Gawny show.
