Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin

Well if winning another flag was his number one priority, last nights pathetic effort with so much on the line would have gone a long way toward striking the Lions off his list.
You realise both Swans & Lions have confirmed they know nothing about that yeah?

Franklin isn't going anywhere but into retirement if he is not playing in Sydney next year. Does not mean he will not reside somewhere else in retirement though.

This reads as if you're trying to disagree with me but nothing in this post disagrees with the post you're quoting.

Would be disappointing to lose tomorrow in any case but even worse if it means these imposters stay in the top 4.
I agree with you Wolfy but let me remind you that one would be excused for calling us imposters after our insipid performance against the pathetic Essendon & Gold Coast during the year.
I haven't forgotten & it's why I have been harsh on us at times.

I'm really hoping we have left that behind us with tomorrow against the Saints being the game where we first & most importantly win, but then just demolish the rabble of the team that the Saints are.
A performance like our reserves put out today will be just the tonic to hit the finals from top four with.

Insipid.. Ted I like your work most of the time but this is a rubbish post. We should have beaten the Bombers (who weren't pathetic at that point, they knocked a few decent sides off) but a few freak goals got them over the line, and the Suns were in red hot form when we hit them. We can't expect to win every single game and when we don't call it insipid.

Buddy keeps getting older and keeps kicking goals.

Even when his opponent plays well, you look at the sheet and see he's still scored 2-4 goals.
His aura and talent alone will ensure hes always a scoreboard threat. One thing i loved yesterday was him handing the goal off to logan. After side stepping a few opponents he was well within his rights to kick the goal and make yet another highlight play for himslmelf, but he gave the hands to logan and let the kid get the goal.

On the surface it seems like just a good team play but it potentially means so much more. Logan has struggled to play with buddy so far, he seems intimidated and constantly trying to do the right thing by buddy. Buddy giving him the hands for a goal would mean the absolute world to the kid and give him that sense of belonging, and a feeling of buddy accepts him and wants what's best for him. There's more to leadership than screaming in the rooms before a game, that moment will largely go unnoticed but it was a great example of what real leadership looks like.

Well done buddy

One thing that has to be said in regards to buddy and his contract, he is no longer the reason we win games, he's just a part of an overall team performance.

That's no knock on the bloke, but just the way it is

and with the younger group developing ahead of expectations it's helping make us a better team
different roles, obviously, but it's sort of the same with parker
