David Koch - The Chairman of the Board

I don't have enough insight into what goes on in the boardroom to have a definitive opinion on the presidents role, but regardless of that the time comes for all in these sort of roles. Whats important is having the right person to take over, and for these things to occur in a clean manner.

I was wondering whether someone like Jay Weatherill would be up for it at some point - hes definitely an active and passionate suporter, has all the right connections, is pretty good at choosing his words wisely etc. Clearly the downside is hes currently working in WA for Twiggy Forrest.

At least in politics they seem well versed in moving people on.

He was also on twitter lauding Kochie for Kens protection.

Kane Cornes isn't sure :tearsofjoy:

Hoe do we get Ben on the board?

Hes exactly the kind if character that should be the members representative on the board rather than some arse kissing ex player.

On SM-G975F using BigFooty.com mobile app
He should be on the board, but if we have to have AFL appointed board members he should be one of those. A Port person who understands the needs of the SA market in depth and able to liaise with Membership to ensure their (and by extension the fans) needs are being addressed. Which also reads as the reasons why the AFL wouldn't ever consider him, can't have anyone willing to put Port before the AFL itself there.

why is the scum kane korner doing everything he can to destroy the club?

I don't know why but this questions makes me remember when Kane changed his Twitter bio to 'Glenelg player' or similar after Primus dropped him.

Everything since then, from quitting mid-season once he got the games record to waves hands everything else, seems to fit a pattern.

why is the scum kane korner doing everything he can to destroy the club? putrid kornes kampaigner. him and his melted greyhound father need to fk off

Look no further than what is recorded in his autobiography. He stated that hating Port Adelaide is in the Kornes's DNA.

If you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

I sent this to the club on the 28th of July.

To Koch, Customer relations, CEO, Corporate, membership and the generic email.

I thought it was positively mild compared to what I could have said, yet I didn't even get a reply 2 weeks later.

Walking the walk and talking the talk

To the custodians of my club,

As a supporter and member of the Port Adelaide Football Club for 42 years I have never been more disenfranchised from my club (including 2011 and 2012).

I have never before questioned whether to attend games or whether to renew my membership... until now.

I am becoming increasingly frustrated by the degree to which our words and actions do not match our stated ambitions.

We state we exist to win premierships yet then we make excuse after excuse as to why it is hard and crumble on field when it becomes so.

We say we want to win 3 premierships in 5 years and then we say things like "finals are just a sugar hit" or suggest that making finals alone is good enough or that it's all OK, we are "connected" or "we had a good 3rd quarter". And on the field we too often fail when expectations rise.

We say We Are Port Adelaide and yet we constantly talk and behave in a way that the real Port Adelaide never would. I don't expect us to win as much as we did in the SANFL, no one does, this is a furphy. I do expect us to be amongst the competition leaders on and off field over the mid to long term. I do expect us to Expect To Win and have a confidence bordering on arrogance to make it so. At the moment we are miles off of the likes of Hawthorn, Richmond, Geelong and even Melbourne in terms of ultimate success over a 15 year time frame.

We say we want to #bringbackthebars and yet we don't have the fortitude to wear them or publicly comment about wearing them on a consistent basis. Every time another team rolls out another "retro round" jumper it is a dagger into the heart of every true Port fan and a reminder of what we are now vs. what we once were.

I still support my club (I pay for 5 memberships this year) because I believe in the club and what it stands for.

I hope that you as the current custodians (coach and president in particular) can remember what it stands for and either step up to the plate, or step aside, so that it can return where it rightly belongs. As the most successful club in the land.

...

Not even a reply.

The next email will be a reply all cancelling my membership auto renewal.

My follow up...

I sent this email 3 weeks ago and received no reply from any of you.

I then got an unrelated call to renew my daughters AFLW memberships week and a half, mentioned this email to a staff member who acted surprised I hadn't received a reply and promised to follow it up. It never arrived.

In that time things have gotten even worse. We have been weak on the prison bars issue with barely a mention of it leading up to this week's showdown. Not even encouragement from the club for members to wear the bars to the game or bring signs of protest or anything.

We were promised a review at the end of the season of "every line item" then only days later it was made clear that the coach (one of the biggest issues IMO) was not to be one of those line items.

The accountability to the members of this current administration is appalling. It appears nothing was learnt from ignoring the fans on the captaincy issue a few years ago.

Please cancel the memberships I pay for for

*****
**** (AFL and AFLW)
and *****

Please also remove the auto renew options for my memberships for ****** and myself.

At this stage and unless something changes the ONLY reason I would be renewing next year would be to retain our seats and unless something changes significantly I am unlikely to even do that.

As a long term member of the Port Adelaide Football Club this makes me sad.

Trouble with Koch he might be good at the books but he’s an accountant/financial wizard meaning risk adverse. The idea of sacking Ken would scare him.
Koch is a financial journalist with an accounting degree. That doesn't make him a financial wizard/guru. His only real world business experience is running his family financial publishing business which started as a TV production company.

Does he really have an accounting degree?

The last time I checked his rap sheet on wikipedia it only indicated he had accounting ‘training’.

His father was certainly a qualified chartered accountant, care of night studies at the School of Mines whilst working at ETSA by day.

If Koch Jr really does have an accounting degree it makes his financial performance as chairman of PAFC even more reprehensible.

School of Mines, where at? Moonta or something?

The SA School of Mines became SAIT which in turn became UniSA. It was on the corner of North Terrace and Frome Road.
