I think he owed the club but he’s also entitled to seek the best financial deal for his future and you can’t force someone to be happy.
Worst case scenario for us would have been for Rioli to decide to stay out of obligation then give us a couple of years of indifferent footy because he wasn’t settled/happy in Perth.
It’ll be sad to see him go as he was one of, if not my favourite, eagles to watch and it’ll hurt watching him tear it up for Port
Assuming the Amon compo is a 2nd round pick (which would be 27 atm) that would be fair, as would their future 2nd.
If the Amon compo is an end of first (19) then I think we’d need to add 38 to Rioli to make if fair. This would be my preferred result as it would give us 2,19,21,27 to take to the draft. (Picks 20 and 26 pushed back one spot in this scenario)
Depends on course on how campaignerish Port want to be
Rioli is worth a second rounder... how about we just take that and head to the draft with as many early picks as we can? Being creative hasn't always helped us historically and I wouldn't trust our guys to not pay $25k for a chinese meal.

I feel like some of the “bitter disappointment” is just because they’ve been pulled out of hibernation mode and forced into acknowledging that the trade period is coming up. But still, pretty strong words.
AFL to give pick 19 to Port on the unofficial requirement that it is given to us for Rioli (GAblett style) for;I think he owed the club but he’s also entitled to seek the best financial deal for his future and you can’t force someone to be happy.

It's like Junior doesn't even know who Trevor Nisbett is.View attachment 1507131

Known game breaker premiership player rioli for an unproven kid
Rioli and 26 for georgiadies and amon comp. 7 pick down grade for port for a genuine proven star
I can no longer think of any other kind. What if it's a succulent Chinese meal?
I think the problem is that our guys that ordered it are in don't care... munch! mode after his exit interview. And we are rich / who cares anywayWhat if it's a succulent Chinese meal?
Yep. Club is furious it seems. That statement is very much out of character for our club
We have a much stronger hand than Port in this negotiation.I think he owed the club but he’s also entitled to seek the best financial deal for his future and you can’t force someone to be happy.

Well, they live in SA..The mouth breathers from Port still think they can low ball with a third rounder or less.
They are aggressively chasing Rioli due to their lack of small forwards, they outbid North/Essendon/Us with a lucrative 4 year deal and they now think they are entitled to him for peanuts.
Really not the sharpest tools in the shed.
Im not sure you know how negotiations work.... if he is my player and i say he can fly and cure cancer, he can fly and cure cancer ( cancer cure comes in yellow gatorade)Game breaker?? What game did he break open?
It’s not surprising thoughThat statement is very much out of character for our club

If only we got rid of him three years ago as I thought.
Yeah that's the best so far, was gonna reply to it but thought better to let them stay on that tangent!"No way hosa: georgiades for Pick 2 and RioliList Mgmt. - Trade targets 2022
The Power have an element of concern over Georgiades’ intentions given the West Australian declined to sign a new contract earlier this season. Not liking the sound of that.www.bigfooty.com
They need picks so Eagles may try to offer up some cattle and flick their 2 for our 8.
We could end with Picks 2 & 19 Compo + Rioli + others (say Shuey, perhasp Gaff).
Well may you laugh but the Eagles are looking to retire or move on; Nic Nait, Luke Shuey and Andrew Gaff"
