No-one likes it but we all know McComb is getting some of those minutes.

There's an unbelievable amount of disrespect shown to Dunkley in this thread. He's a Bulldogs premiership player, and after the ill-advised trade attempt two years ago, he gave us two fantastic years including a grand final last year and what will likely a top 3 B&F finish this year. The amount of 'well I never liked him anyway' and barbs about his personal life is pathetic. Dunkley was an excellent player for us, and one of the few players who gave their all consistently, and you can't ask for much more than that.

I reckon Brisbane's first this year (15) and next year (assume about 15 too) is about right and fair all round. Should be pretty simple if no players involved.

They can use the Mcstay compo and downgrade for later picks/points to help with Ashcroft and Jaspa. We could even help with that too.
I think that's the starting point, but we'll send pick(s) back this year.
If we do manage to get a deal done early that helps us for other moves during trade week.

Getting Brisbane's first as part of the deal would be a good result.
The expectation would be somewhere around 15 and at worst 18, but if the wheels fall off it could end up being top 10 in a strong draft.

I kind of feel like Dunkley missed an opportunity here. He could have sat holding his power partner's hand and revealed his chosen destination in a prime time televised interview with the best in the business Tom Browne, like the AFL's very own version of 'The Decision'.

Poor form by his publicist imo.

Destination was not important. He just wanted out.

Clearly hated being at the club.

Stuffed it up first time due to dodo and was never gonna re sign.

Next chance he got and boom, out the door. Was offered matching money by us and still not interested.

Hope the players feel unloved.

The sealer was that Lions have guaranteed his stylist a job - we couldn't match that as Toby McLean is the preferred stylist for the majority of our list. McLean and Dunkley have not been on speaking terms the past few years, it's got to the stage where every time McLean sees Dunkley coming, he pulls out his scissors and starts snipping at the air to ward him off. Dunkley considers McLean's styling in the hub to have been highly unprofessional too.

I used to play soccer with Dunkley’s hair stylist. As soon as I saw the pre Brownlow hair pick on fb, I put him on 30day snooze again.

Supporters: This is ok. We can cover the loss of Dunkley with McLean, West and Garcia.

Bevo: This is ok. We can cover the loss of Dunkley with McComb, Scott and McNeil.

The Dodo must be spewing, should have given us two first round picks Essington. I like the way they put a contract in front of him, and Dunks brushed it away without bothering to comment.
Think they went alright in the draft. Can only assess in another 2 years but think they’ll be pleased

Funny thing is he was acknowledged by many of the players as ''Bevo's Pet'', he appeared to be one of Bont's best mates and was a star on-field, admired by his team mates. On top of that, he gets a new BFF. Lots of love in all of that.

Still not enough.

For Dunk's sake, I hope all of the Brisbane boys are total cleanskins.

Wait till he finds out his teammates would miss a semi final for the birth of their child

I reckon he lost a bit of love after the failed Essendon trade attempt, which was only ever about money.

MORE aggressive 'salary dumps' will be permitted in this year's off-season as cap space becomes an advanced trading tool for clubs.

The mechanism of trading salary cap space, as forecast by AFL.com.au last week, is set to be a major driver in next month's Continental Tyres Trade Period.

The AFL ticks off every trade to ensure fairness is provided for clubs and has previously denied deals that they have viewed as too one-sided.

However clubs are anticipating the League will be more open to approving deals that allow clubs to complete lopsided trades in which the team that receives a player (and takes on his contract) also gains a strong draft selection or selections.

The AFL is expected to be willing to allow more significant salary dumps so that clubs can clear their own tight caps whilst seeing other clubs use their spare cash and get rewarded for taking on a player's money and adding draft selections.

Gold Coast last year was at the centre of salary cap space being moved, with Darcy Macpherson and pick No.19 offered to North Melbourne to take his salary off the books at the Suns before Macpherson decided to stay at the Suns.

The Suns then enacted a similar deal with Will Brodie at Fremantle, with the Dockers gaining Brodie and pick No.19 as well for taking on his contract. Clubs have been aware in recent weeks that similar deals could be used this year at the Suns.

Collingwood shapes as one of the busiest clubs of the period and could lose Brodie Grundy to Melbourne if the Demons are prepared to pay a significant portion of the five remaining years of his lucrative contract.

Hawthorn would likely let Tom Mitchell go if a suitor is willing to pick up the midfielder and the remaining year on his deal, whilst St Kilda's Bradley Hill has two years to run on his long-term contract at the Saints.

Going off this, if we trade Hunter, we may have to give a team a decent draft pick to get his salary off the books.

More I think about it the more I’m happy with the situation dealing with Brissy, it’s not a top 10 pick but sounds like it’s a fairly even first round this draft anyway & we have the potential to get into the top 20 in a big way whilst having 2x first rounders next year which are quite valuable and can allow us to shape the lift.

I really think we should be in on Darcy Gardiner as he’d be a solid inclusion too our backline & we’re in the funny position that we could game the system a little bit & potentially craft our own pick out of thin air depending on how much salary we’re willing to use, with Brissy agreeing to ship the pick back.

Does 700/2 years get band 2? We know 750/3 got band 1 for Daniher. Then extend him for years 3 & 4 on 300k per year evening out to 2mil/4 which is still big overs for a player like Gardiner but I’d do it if it got us an extra pick inside the top 20 and considering he’s an upgrade on what we have
