We have a real gap in our list of players in that 20-22 age bracket

If we can pick up one or two players with 2nd/3rd round picks to help fill that gap it’s worth considering

Robertson and/or Sharp may or may not be worth the picks being discussed but both do have attributes we could do with and come with 3 years of development

I think it was Deplorable trumpster who made the comment that players we’ve recently traded in weren’t missed by the clubs they were leaving which was a sign that might not succeed and it was a fair point

Do you think Gold Coast and Brisbane would be happy to see Sharp and Robertson leave - personally I don’t think they would which should be an indication they’re worth talking to as trade targets

Some of the other names being thrown up maybe not so much

Isnt that gap in the 22 to 27 age group?

Asterix?

Cam Ellis-Yolmen looks like he might be available. Would we entertain giving up the Amon compo pick and potentially Darling, with a future 4th rounder back the other way?

Sorry he's not.

Just signed with my sons club. Southern Districts up here in Darwin. The young fella is very exicited.......it doesnt take much TBH!;):)

Witherden & Winder may survive. This year should be all about taking out the trash including Langdon who needs to go as well

Then next year all the Vets on short notice
Vets need to be on notice now... so as to not be surprised next year when they have to fight for their spot instead of being a walk up inclusion. Start by making Barrass captain.

So with Meeks preferring the Hawks, how would it get done? Hawks hold 6, 24 and 49 (Freo's R3).

Do we come in and offer 38? Would Meeks be OK as back up to NicNat? Would Meeks be best 22 since we cannot go with a solo ruck and a KPF chopping out?

I would be muddying the waters saying to Freo that we would look at 38.

Call it delusion, but there is still time for Yeo to return to his impactful best

If, (and its a huge if), our medical team can get him right, he is still young enough to return to the top

Shuey is a legend of the club but IMO he should have retired at the end of this season
I was thinking about this the other day and how much we’ve missed him at his best. Runs both ways, elite contested mark, quick and a booming kick. Gives our midfield a physical edge we’ve missed, too - I remember there was a 2 week stretch in 2019 where he had 31 tackles combined (Sheed had 39 for the season, for comparison). I think of all the frustration we’ve had with our medical team, Yeo playing 27 games in the last 3 years is possibly the one that annoys me most.

Here is the list with the positions by age group. In theory, we have a void in players turning 21 and a very light number 28, 19 and 31. JK and Strnadica already removed

NOW - when I remove those players that are not close to AFL quality (ie cringe when they are lucky enough to rarely be listed) plus take out the players I do not think will be on the list come November, we have enormous gaps.
1 in the age groups who end 2022 will be 20 and 21
Only 6 players in the age group 25, 26 and 27 (this is meant to be the next core)
The 4 guys turning 24 represent our highest number in the 23-27 and they are Waterman, Jones, Rotham and SPS - hardly a strong group. You could argue a case that none of these are/or should be in our best 22

No

And it’s a red card for anyone that does
Joel Western a yellow or.....

Disagree, when the top 10 are relatively even anyway it’s inconsequential.
I read the shape of the draft differently. after each group is a gap.

There is a top 8 and then a gap with 7 to 11 even then another group from 12 to 20

Top 3 Ashcroft, Sheezel, Wardlaw,
4 to 8 Tsatas, Cadman, Busslinger, Clarke, Phillipou
9 - 13 McKenzie, Humphreys, Hewett, Ginbey, Hotton
14 - 22 Hollands, Hustwaithe, Jefferson, Fletcher, Keeler, Barnet, Szybkowski, Hayes

Just missing that are Davey Jnr, George (injury), Weddle to name a few

Can agree with a top 8, would prefer pick 8 to pick 10 for sure but no reason it has to be a top 5 pick.

I think that’s pretty spot on, I disagree with your 14-22 but other than that perfectly summarised

I want one of the top 3 so don't want us to split the picks.
Wardlow and Sheezel are going to be guaranteed superstars. We have a chance to get one we should.

We have a good hand anyway with pick 20 and pick 26 further down where we can experiment.

I've gone through the draft and it's pretty average after the top 5. If we split our picks and get 10 and 18 or whatever it will be stupidity as those picks are 50/50 at best. Another Koby Stevens or Tony Notte is likely. It's a complete 50/50 if they make it. We are likely to screw up one of those picks going by history.

Missing out on Wardlow and Sheezel we will come back to regret it.
