Looks that way in hindsight but the alternative was Logan McDonald or bringing Joel Amartey back. I don’t blame them for taking the risk.

With the sub rule I’d take a 50% risk on Reid at 50-75% performance versus those two.

We played Dale Morris with a broken back and plenty of others banged up. Both of these teams will probably have half a dozen blokes going in for surgery within a couple of weeks. The narrative of not being able to take injured players into grand finals is a big myth because it’s an easy thing to comment on when a team loses.

Agree that many players carry injuries through to the end of season quite a lot. Mostly they have things you can play on with, even if not quite at your best (eg Bont this year).
So it's horses for courses. Depends on the player, the player's role and the type and severity of the injury.

But Dale Morris was a freak.
