players come and go for various reasons…

Brodie Comes in Acres goes out
can’t do much about it…they had contracts in front of themI

You can't control everything but I disagree that there's not much you can do about it.

If you allow a player like Logue (or Cerra or Serong) to enter a season uncontracted you have left the door open.

And in Logue's case, if you do that while adding more and more defenders while offering significantly less than rival clubs value him at, you can't be surprised they look around.

And if you recruit a player like Jackson and dedicate a disproportionate amount of salary cap to him, you might easily lose Serong.

perhaps giving Logue and acres what they want costs us Serong and Jackson

Pretty bad that it’s taken them 11 years to actually win it despite being right up there for so long.
I see it more like they are the only club in recent history who only missed finals in 1 year, since their last flag 11 years ago. Who else has done that? I think it's quite remarkable. They didn't bottom out at all which is a credit to their coaching and S&C/fitness/rehap coaches and staff. They've overperformed at times in the last 11 years IMO, but brought in Cameron and Smith recently, and got the most out of their 30+ year players, and bang! Now was their time for a flag.

I prefer the Freo strategy of a rebuild however as it will give us more chance to have a flag dynasty like Brisbane, 2007-2011 Geelong, Hawks or Richmond. No way I can see Geelong winning another for a while, they knew they had to get it done today with their list being oldest in the AFL.

So dumb to play Reid. I'm glad for Logan's sake he missed out, he'd be as effective as Reid and people would be calling him a spud.
I like Logan, but I expect Amiss to be
a better forward.
Amiss has pace, and leads well.

Those dynasty teams had real menace, DNA in how their coaches played the
game.
This is the first one Scott won off his own bat.
Swans were mentally soft, and they have form in GF’s.
But they are coached well, yet still missing that hardness or nastiness to
get the job done in the big one.
It’s why I like the idea of a forward line of Treacy, Jackson and Erasmus.
Shultz, Switta, never give up.
You move the ball more direct than this year, results are going to follow.

Yep, gonnski.

We do have Brayshaw to show for it though.
As much as it set us back, every single one of us would take a midfield of Serong, Brayshaw, Johnson, Erasmus and Drizzy on a wing over the three amigos every time. We're through the worst of that period and we could have all of those guys for the next ten years.

adios amigos. 👋
