In hindsight, wish we had sacked Harves who was an obvious a dud a little earlier then we did and offered the job to Chris Scott, deserves a lot of the credit for how long Geelong have managed to stay competitive

We need to start being more aggressive giving recycled players a go that Geelong has done for years.

They don’t always get it right…but most the time their system is good enough to turn them into jets.

They have only missed the finals once between 07 to 22 from my recollection.
If we keep turning over best 22 players then struggle to get out of development mode.

Geelong, great club brilliantly run you have to admit.

Still it’d be nice to have the advantage of being the only Vic Country club hence having country kids nominating your club every year (including this trade period) to stay propped up on talent without having to ever bottom out and ALSO the only Vic club with a true home ground.

Nathan Buckley worded it well this week, they maximise their competitive advantages - even if there’s jealousy in that it’s completely true, they’re well run enough to take complete advantage of the very good hand they’re dealt.

I think people waiting on them to bottom out will be waiting a loooong time, there’s more elite young talent headed there this year free agents will always want to go there and they will be a good team indefinitely.

having guys like Cameron wanting to come helps…
Sure, but it isn't just luck. Cameron would have been groomed to come. Smith too. These guys have been targeted.

We targeted Hogan and now Jackson.

Also amazing the number of non football background players they have. The Irish boys, Blicavs, and Holmes. All useful.

I think you need to come to terms with our upcoming list changes, or it will be a very depressing off-season. The reality is we are still developing, the upside is that no developing side is touching this Geelong squad, we are not that far away from the rest.

Our list is so far off the cats list when it comes to quality and experience, especially in the forward line. I hope the club can surprise us in the trade period as it's looking pretty grim.

Well we are alot younger , still developing really. Once we get our forward line sorted which is the last part of a rebuild we will be up there with the best . Dont forget we beat this years winner on their home deck.

Not arguing with any of that, but I really want our list management to change gears. We seem to be hell bent on extending our time as a development side.

We may have Fyfe and Walters for a season or two and I am worried our vision is more about after they are gone rather than next season while they are with us. Already the club's stated Premiership timeline looks unattainable.

Happy to be optimistic about MJ and Erasmus, just as I was about the three amigos.

we are active in this space.

players come and go for various reasons…

Brodie Comes in Acres goes out
can’t do much about it…they had contracts in front of them

Feel like the grand final was lost after those two Hawkins goals at the start. To let Hawkins get that goal out of the ruck once when he does it so often is poor, but having it happen twice in a row is the definition of poor planning and/or execution.

You're not going to stop it everytime, but it shouldn't happen like that
