Of course not but vitriol to all things NM doesn’t help. The “just wind em up” sentiment on forums and in the media actually may convince those who can sign off on the trade to decline to do so because the trade becomes more about NM’s relevance than a fair trade.

Little things can actually spoil trades like this. 20c handed by a kid to Chris Grant may have cost us a flag.

This is Port’s most important trade in 152 years. It looks like it will go through at the moment but little things can change the dynamic.

I will have my breather when the paperwork is lodged. In the mean time, the trash talk probably doesn’t hurt, but there’s a 1% chance that repeated trash talk does filter down and convince NM to dig their heels in and refuse a trade.

And what is the point anyway? It’s just childish to rub it in these circumstances.

How exactly does it hurt? If NM are reading the Port Adelaide forums on BigFooty and making decisions on list management on the basis of what people say here, then unbelievably they're are an even bigger rabble than I thought. Pure superstition. Also... To dance on their graves they'd have to be dead. They are far from that. They're gonna make out ok considering they drafted a player who made it very clear they didn't want to move and gamble on being able to change his mind. They were doing a bit of dancing themselves a few weeks ago after locking in Alistair Clakson and carrying on like they'd found the cure for cancer doing all the rounds. There will come a day when it happens to us and you can bet your ass there'll be nobody in the rest of the football world holding candlelight vigils for us.
