Kane "long term deals should never be done" Cornes ticking off JHF getting 6 years. 😂

Certainly won't stop him saying it was a bad idea if JHF doesn't develop into what they want/hope/need in 3 years time, whether that be through development or injury

You just think Jason drafted to any other club in Victoria and he’s staying. Still can’t believe north let him move in with ccj when he first came to Victoria. He’s your most important asset and you’re letting him move in with a guy that’s never even been around your club before and had behavior indiscretions at his former club. Full amateur hour.

Yeah, I almost feel bad for them ...

That's not really accurate at all.

I was obviously speaking metaphorically. In fact, you could say it is even better because he's a year in.

Yes, I am aware that Port has traded #8 and a future first. But Jase will be a much better player than #8 will be, and they had a first rounder before us choosing Hobbs last year. Evens out. And while my original assessment of Port's list, prior to the inclusion of their trades, was that they were a lackluster side, they could do a little better in 2023 than they've done so this year and it still wouldn't touch the equivalent of a #1 + a first rounder in 2021 - something a team who finishes 2nd should not be privy to.

Will he be a much better player though?

Port got a decent deal on his potential, but have given up #8 and a future pick around 10 - 12 for him as a team that finished mid-table this year.

If you want to get outraged about a trade, do so about Bowes + 7 for an F3.

They didn't actually give up a first rounder this year, as they've have had two first rounders last year.

Basically #1 + #12 (2021) for #8 (2022) + F1 (2023)

Farce, especially considering they've been on top recently and have the ability to do better than this year.

My point was also critical of the Geelong scenario and they're both a slap in the face to the fairness of the competition.

It's good to see JHF state that the uncertainty surrounding Clarkson and North moving forwards was a factor in his decision making.

The more this issue is talked about the less likely the AFL will be able to sweep it under a rug.

Wonder how Sonja's Plan B is coming along ...

Hopper now a Tiger too for a F1 and 31, late picks going back the other way.

Gee some clubs are getting a leg up on the rest this trade period in Cats, Tigers, Port. Could add Brisbane to that list if they land Dunkley given they've got Gunston (they need some consistency in their forward line), plus Ashcroft and Fletcher coming in.

What a period to pick to be a shitshow

Every chance we could have added dunkley, bowes and hopper for the price of picks 22, 41 and a small pick downgrade

41 for bowes and 7
4 and 22 for dunkley and 11
11 for hopper and change

Fully expect rules to be tightened moving forward

This is an absolute disaster for the AFL.

2 expansion clubs who didn't make finals have to trade players out instead of improving their lists.

And 2 of the oldest clubs benefit.
Who have won 7 of the last 15 GFs

AFL - incompetent at equalisation too

I'm a Mitchell fanboi, for what it's worth.

I dont mind their strategy. Mitchell and O'Meara are mediocre.

Newcombe is basically already leading that midfield, despite being a kid.

Worpel went from a best and fairest to a bit part player because he didn't fit in the team.

Maginness is a Scott Steiner level freak. Running power based on a 5:50 2km, he's at least 90kgs at 6'2 and ran Ed Langdon out of a game. In his 4th year he's ready for prime midfield minutes.

Ward will be a gun, albeit he's a few years away.

Ned Long is a man child and may be capable of beating up opponents already in year 2 next year.

It's not sexy, no doubt. But their midfield never was. It's potentially brutally hard with a couple of elite two-way players. For the games they will lose for lack of experience they'll win games as a result of the enthusiasm of youth.

You'd prefer first round picks for guys they spent a lot on but that ship has sailed. Any system should be backing itself to develop 200 game players from picks inside 30, for sure.

It just occurred to me that the Dogs have lost Zaine Cordy.

They've probably won trade period on that alone.

Though as my Dogs supporting mate has suggested, Bevo may just pick 21 players out of grief.
