Well, when Tassie eventually come in, the AFL wont be allowing them to be a 10-15 year basket case like Gold Coast.

They will get massive draft concessions, as well as priority access to free agents. All clubs will be disadvantaged as a result.

The AFL will want high profile recruits. We will need to ensure we have everyone we want tucked safely away once that happens.
Tassie should have had a team way before Gold Coast and Western Sydney. Tassie is a natural AFL market - no need to spend/ waste $$$ on freakin "marketing" - AFL dopes 😡

Only a matter of time. Shut your gob idjut President.

Seems our Tassie position rests on the AFL ensuring that no further money is redistributed away from Collingwood to prop up other clubs in the name of equalisation. Seems a little opportunistic, but if that’s what it takes to get this reassurance I don’t mind it.

NO issue with that.
Collingwood already subsidise too much.

It wont stop with Tassie, they'll bring in a 20th team to even up the fixture - no one likes the weekly bye.

So, the process will start again.
Or they could have an 18 round season followed by "divisional" playoffs and "wild card" games based on ladder position, like the NFL.

Collingwood icon Jeffrey “Joffa” Corfe has admitted sickening sex acts against a 14-year-old boy – but he is set to avoid jail for his crimes.

Corfe, 62, pleaded guilty to sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16 – a rolled up charge involving two acts with the boy at his Coburg home on January 29, 2005 – in Victoria’s County Court on Wednesday.

He had previously denied the allegations when charged in May last year and a trial date had been set for next year.

But he entered his guilty plea after a series of secret hearings were held last week, where he applied for a sentencing indication if he was to admit the single charge.

On Friday, Judge Gerard Mullaly accepted submissions by Corfe’s lawyer Christopher Terry that a wholly suspended jail term would be an appropriate punishment.

A gag order prohibited the Herald Sun from reporting the details until today.

The court heard Corfe – one of the Pies’ most recognisable supporters and former cheer squad leader – was aged 44 at the time of the offending.

He used an alias and said he was 30 years old when he began communicating with the teen via email and MSN messenger on January 16, later inviting him to his home to have oral sex.

“Do you still like getting head and what do you look like, champ?” Corfe wrote in one message to the boy.

He handed over his address to which the boy decided to attend.

The court heard the complainant was “significantly traumatised” by the offending.

Mr Terry had asked for a “merciful” sentence, citing Corfe’s poor health, “dislocated upbringing” and his contributions to society and lack of further offending.

“The law is to protect young people … because their vulnerability can be exploited,” Judge Mullaly said.

Corfe appeared via videolink from Queensland, where he now lives, for the 9am arraignment.

His bail was extended, but he was told he would have to fly to Melbourne for a pre-sentencing hearing in February, where his victim wanted to eyeball him in court and read out a statement on how his crimes had impacted his life.

Disgusting, the bloke should have gone to jail. Imagine how he has affected that young boys life going forward.
He obviously was a predator too, by giving false information regarding his age.....creep!!

Nice dig by Sidebottom asking Allan if he’ll stay after 2 years. In contrast to his chat with vline some banter actually stuck between them too and all seemed openly positive about joining the pies.

We play the Cats in round one, I wonder if Ollie will play
Will VFL practice games have kicked off?

COLLINGWOOD

IN: Daniel McStay (Brisbane), Tom Mitchell (Hawthorn), Bobby Hill (GWS), Billy Frampton (Adelaide), Ed Allan (draft), Jakob Ryan (draft), Joe Richards (draft),

OUT: Brodie Grundy (Melbourne), Ollie Henry (Geelong), Jordan Roughead (retired), Callum Brown (delisted), Tyler Brown (delisted), Isaac Chugg (delisted), Liam McMahon (delisted)

Available list spots: 2

The Magpies did lose two time All-Australian ruckman Grundy for unders but got the bulk of his salary off their books. And they used this to address some key areas of need. Mitchell provides a clearance-winning ability to the midfield while could McStay be the key forward the Pies have been looking for? The Pies struck gold on draft night when Allan slipped to their first pick and then Ryan, who they were linked with, was still available at their second pick. Richards, a schoolteacher in country Victoria, was the feel good story of the draft so he will be one to watch for the Pies.

VERDICT: List improved for 2023

We addressed areas of need & salary cap stress without selling the farm.
We'll be primed for bigger things next year.

COLLINGWOOD has finalised its coaching department for next year, signing former Adelaide defender Andy Otten as a development coach and recently retired defender Jordan Roughead in a dual role.

Otten spent the past few seasons working in development at Hawthorn after calling time on his 12-year career at Adelaide at the end of 2019.

Josh Fraser has been appointed Craig Black’s replacement as VFL coach and will continue as the club’s head of development.

Brendon Bolton will look after the backline again and continue as director of coaching, while Justin Leppitsch will oversee the forwards and continue in his role as head of strategy.

WTF. Surely that's a mistake from afl.com.au? Bolton didn't coach the defenders last year.
