He was offered a ridiculous contract by the previous list manager & took what was offered.
He wasn't worth that deal then & he isn't now.
But for goodness sake move on. Why are some so bitter?
It's quite reasonable to suspect that an ex-president leant on/ required the list manager to offer a contract with very top and then some $$$$

Agree. The churlish postings, denigrating a recent Collingwood player, do not reflect well upon the authors. I trust they will not continue.
Yep 100% agree. Especially a player who gave great service, mult AA B&Fs, gave 100% and never caused problems. He wanted to remain a Pie but we forced him out of the club. He may be dirty on us we cant be on him.

I think his contract demands caused problems
No. He negotiated a contract like every other player. The club and he agreed and signed off and all were happy. Down the track the club changes its mind and gives him an ultimatum, renegotiate or leave.

I think the club caused the problem.

Agree with everything, but he presumably did also have the option to take a pay cut.

I don’t begrudge him for not yielding, but he can’t then hold it against us for trading his contract either.

His form also dipped albeit slightly, when you’re at that top end salary…you have to be AA level.

My preference was for him to take a pay cut and stay, I loved what he brought as a player.

Agree would have been the ideal outcome for us. I can understand why he said no

He asked for the biggest contract in Collingwoods history, that’s not negotiating like every other player.

He was our best player at the time in his prime. Every best player who has just negotiated a new cotract at the 18 clubs will have or be near the biggest contract in their clu s history. He was well within rights to want his best contract.
