A certain old fart who's a regular poster on the NM BF Forum got me to thinking... How much do we embrace the technology used to access these forums and in our daily lives in general, and how much do we understand it, use it and benefit from it's use?

Smart lights. There are heaps on the market these days and a stack of different methods of operating them. It might appeal to some people to use their phone to turn a light bulb on or off but unless everybody in the household is into it, these things can become the source of a lot of irritation unless a lot of effort is made to ensure that the technology also works for the Luddites.
Smart speakers, TVs and streaming services are becoming more mainstream and soon enough, smart things like light switches, door locks, curtains and blinds, pool cleaners, awnings and shades etc. will be similarly embraced around the home.
So, what do you have and does it work for you?
I have a stack of Google things like hubs, screens, speakers, chromecasts, cameras (Eufy) plus some amazon stuff (a bit is stacked away in cupboards in case I get bored and want to set it up). I cop a fair bit of shit when I install something new but after a few weeks I cop shit if it isn't working properly (often because I mucked around too much and broke it).
Tips, advice, suggestions, help - jump in................
