Correct

The overall lesson being that people put expectations on other people who might have other things in life that are more important to them....so brodie has flown and the lesson learnt is that club administrators should keep in mind long term goals as well as the short term ones. It's for that reason, that I'm allergic to fiddling around with future draft pics as if they grow on trees. But there are some who might throw the kitchen sink at a ruckman to keep him and because of that, win a premiership. Such is life...

Do you want to place any further conditions to your positioning.

Please don’t place Soy Boy in the same place as workers in a company. And compare their positions. Even he’d be embarrassed with that comparison.

His earning capacities as a Collingwood player also get subsidized through sponsorships and quite possibly alternative engagements he may encounter outside of the football arena. All being generated through his involvement with the Club.

So anything he does at the club can is purely and simply to aid him in winning flags. And maybe if they don’t define him. That may be why he places a higher focus on earning as much money as he can. And that’s fine……But there are consequences that come with that selfish thinking.

Soy Boy chose his position and couldn’t deliver. And we solved our problem.

Simples.

Your angle and language on Grundy isn't classy.

Referring to him as Soy Boy might be acceptable if you were willing to look him in the eye and address him that way.

Doing so behind the anonymity of a keyboard using the guise of a passionate supporter who loves the club... not so much.

If this is the sort of content that will live on the first page of our board then we're better off locking the damn thread. It doesn't flatter us.

Please lock the thread - it's all done and dusted - nothing new here - it's like the Balkans - same old sh#te being tossed around ad nauseam until someone inevitably cracks it

I get what you’re saying, but all that will do is spread the Grundy stuff to other threads. At least it’s contained here and people can just avoid it if they’re not interested.

100% agree. Should never damper people’s thoughts. It’s better they are expressed and discussed, as you say within a specific thread.

Silly people, who are gutless keyboard warriors, who have a focus on soy milk, are at least contained.

There have been some fairly outrageous and insulting remarks made in the relevant thread about Henry from the moment that it became known that he wanted out of the club, but I never see any suggestion that thread should be closed. Similarly the Sier thread. Seems to me double standards are being applied if the Grundy thread were to be shut down because a couple of posters are deemed to be too negative.

Difficult to objectively measure "insulting and outrageous" and hence impossible to be perfectly consistent along those lines, however your point about double standards is duly noted.

Henry is no longer on the 1st page, that thread seems to be dying a natural death but Grundy attracts a special kind of scorn.

This thread has been closed before as the discussion during his injury became circular and toxic.

Who is this Sier you speak of?

A forum is expressing opinions, if you can’t dig that , move on

No, it's not that simple and you must know this.

Not all opinions can be freely expressed; not just on this board but in the world we live in.

It sometimes takes a while to tease out all the finer points of a contentious issue and we need to be patient. I think we did that with buckley replacing malthouse, although I'm still not convinced that we shouldnt revisit that thread again. Obviously Sier needs further attention. Grundy and Henry have yet to play for their new teams, so I expect that their present and past will be further debated this year and maybe for another two or three years. And who knows whether a current non-issue like cal brown might rear its head if he is picked up by another club and actually gets a game. Many of these issues take years to discuss and we all just have to be patient with each other over the journey.

Not suggesting the thread be shutdown because "a couple of posters are deemed too negative". People don't have the right to issue gratuitous insults non stop. It's time people moved on - I'm sure Grundy has and our players have (some of whom will retain friendships with Grundy).

What is to be gained from repeating the same stuff forever? Is there something genuinely NEW to say on this topic? - I doubt it.

IMO be quite reasonable for the mods to say - "we're moving on, topic worn out, enough is enough, thanks for your contributions, time to STFU, GAL, goodnight all"

"Time gentlemen (et al) please"

For some context from about 7 pages of the Henry thread. There were calls to close it down, but not for the insults but because posters wanted to truly see the back of him.

What a soft ****.
Hope he becomes a flop like Nathan Ablett and cries himself to sleep every night.

He's no longer in Black and White so he just another player for another side, he's trash.

Go **** yourself Henry

Hoping he suffers a couple of career threatening injuries. I want to see him carried off on a stretcher.

What if he has a shot on goal after the siren to beat us in the grand final? Personally, I would be hoping his leg falls off completely.

Blow it out your disingenuous @rsehole, Oliver.

I reckon he’s An imbreeder and still on the tit

2 North players were going after Ginivan and the ball was not in play and Henry just turned his back and walked off. There's no denying it's poor. You don't have to be a hero but at least go over and get them off him. He's not the toughest bloke mentally is young Henry, and I said that well before he left to go see mommy.

Ok, time to delete all thing Henry and move on and forget about this life size cry baby!

Ollie is going to have a lot of Collingwood supporters ask why he screwed us over and why is he such a s**t bloke. It will be worse than the Damian Martyn shot in the air in the covers to lose the game against South Africa. I think he still gets asked everyday about it now 30 years on!!! He will need his mummy. Every Collingwood should treat Ollie the same. Why did you screw a club that was good to you over? Why do you lack decency? He doesnt feel bad yet about leaving the pies the way he did he will soon.

I would not want to be in Ollie shoes he is enemy number 1 and he will be in a stadium baying for his blood. It will be likes Romans cheering a lion eating up a malnourished peasant. This is not a good situation for anyone let alone a mentally weak cry baby snowflake that needs his mummy at least he will be getting advice from the sidelines telling him his weaknesses and character flaws of how s**t a person he is.

I’m hearing rumours of sleeping with the lights on, Dutch rudders with his brother and losing his virginity to a maternal family member and betrothed to his cousin.

First time young Henry has been in a three way that did not involve his mum and brother

Was he standing up or in his Pram?

Flog of the highest order

You sleep with your sister or mother? Or even your brother like Ollie???

Soy boy is offending people? My god.
Yes it does, not sure why there is a need to use this type of name-calling.

Soy boy is an insult towards an allegedly feminine or low-testosterone (and therefore unmasculine and unmanly) male.

I suggest that you look at BF rules that everyone agrees to when signing up.

If these are examples of what has been posted in the Henry thread, not a good look from our board is it?

Surely we can be better that this?

We live and learn. I assumed it was just a reference to a bloke preferring soy milk to the real thing. (Soy boys are often depicted as feminized and unathletic, with glasses and a poorly-groomed beard, and having a characteristic open-mouthed smile called a "soy face" or "soylent grin. wikkipedia)

Let's not forget Grundy is now an ex player and the Henry thread certainly suggests that we adopt a more lax attitude towards posters comments in ex player threads. Even saw some mods in there swapping insults with Geelong supporters who had chosen to engage. I guess the difference is that Grundy did not want to leave whereas Henry couldn't wait to pull on a Geelong sweater.

My point is that it seems that tolerance of negative or derisive comments about other players (or posters) seems to be dependent on the player, the background to the comments and sometimes the poster him/her self who is commenting. We may have rules but often they seem to be selectively applied.

Moderate the post/poster. There is a pattern of posting that shutting down the thread may not challenge. I assume this is happening in the background & we are all being reminded to treat past players with respect. To me Grundy was a unique ruckman, an outstanding contributor to the pies & I think of him no differently than I do a past player like p moore

well peter moore left for big money, but he also experienced serial frustration of being with club that loses grand finals. He might have left for either or both reasons. Some people might say that brodie didnt choose to leave. People will weigh these things out differently.. which makes arguing the point useless.
