well i dont give my love away as easy as you seem to do, ...

But I must also say that I dont wish grundy well, or henry. Both are opposition players and I probably wish them ACLs and other minor barriers along their way.
I know. I've driven half-way across this country and still you won't give me an invite. Clearly my love is wasted ...

Never felt any connection with Henry, couldn't care less. I wish Grundy all the best, except against us. There are certain opposition players I don't wish well, like duckwood or Toby Mitchell, but I like Grundy. Like Gawn too.

I havent an aversion for bailey fridge.... i cant tolerate his hair but his every move disgusts me...

and i found out that you dont look good in a mini-skirt and so it's just not meant to be

Really……..You’ve come up with that definition yourself.

Geez you must think even less of Soy Boy than I do.

I provided my reasons on the Soy Boy comment in a previous post.

You meant it as an insult, not an observation of Grundy’s coffee drinking habits.

At least be honest about it.

Relating to the adjectives to describe grundy, here is passage describing a famous pie player of the past

"He joined Collingwood in 1969, and it is no surprise his hairstyle drew as much attention as his football ability in first year. As detailed in Michael Roberts’ A Century of the Best, one night at training Magpies coach Bob Rose “came out, pinned him to the ground and gave him ‘one of the best basin cuts you’ve ever seen'”.

Des Tuddenham recalled saying to the teenager from Noorat: “You can’t look like a girl, son, if you’re going to play a man’s game.” ###### wouldn’t listen. He grew his locks back as soon as he could."
Ron Wearmouth!

well that's a balanced approach... in reality I'd be happy to see grundy win the brownlow if we win the premiership. In fact, I'd be happy for scott morrison to get another go at prime minister, if we got the flag...
I'd do the deal but not happily from the Morrison end

I googled soy boy and that was the definition that came up. I find your posts at times interesting and insightful. Generally though they come with a gratuitous put down at your fellow posters or players, as with the post above. Personally I find that offensive and simply encourages the threads to degrade into insults not discussion.

I’d love Grundy to get 50 hits outs in a grand final if we win the premiership

plus he made a nasty crack at the whipping boy thread which might lead me to therapy...

I’ve given you my reasons on the Soy Boy comments. And that’s where it stands. If you don’t like it, I don’t really care.

Your perception reflects poorly on you.

Even Soy Boy is now taking the piss by posting his stories in Black and White photos……I think it is hilarious.

And for the record I don’t wish him well for next season. But, nor do I wish him harm. He can continue with the same output and peter out into oblivion. He is the Dreamons problem now.

Two points here. THe first is that you're well known to be a saint. The second is that it was a collective decision by the workers to take a pay cut to keep the business going. That's different from asking one guy to take a cut.

I hope HP sends you christmas cards every year

A collective decision that is often made at successful clubs to win premierships.

But in professional sports it’s a simple choice. You can take 80% of your worth to be successful or you can demand 120% of your worth and not be successful.

Obviously someone not defined by premierships will always take option 2.

Please….

So it’s OK for all of you to sprout all sorts of garbage in the Whipping Boys thread. In the guise of jest and jocularity…..

Some could say that, some of those comments, are thinly veiled with actual derogatory intent. But they’re ok as we accept the garbage present in that thread…..

My reference to Soy Boy comes from his many many many shots from his InstaHam and FakeBook postings of himself buying and drinking coffees from all his travels.

How you perceived the comments is on you. But I gather you may have already had the subconscious thoughts about him. Given how you’ve taken the meaning of Soy Boy……

No matter what I think of him. The coaching panel and Football Department at the Pies thought even less. That’s why he is at the Dreamons now.

Let’s see how things pan out over the next few years…..

The whipping boys thread exists in jest. It's nothing more than satire. No comparison with what has taken place here (or in the Henry thread).

I've included below the urban dictionary definition for "soy boy". I'm not projecting an imagined meaning of the term on you. Don't BS, own that you knew what you were implying.

It's OK to have your vent about a player like Grundy "costing the club too much"; whatever that term may mean but your posts about him have been over the top disparaging if not hateful. 412 of them. More than 1/3 of the total posts you've made in this board have been in this thread.

Your responses to others in this thread are too often rude and snide.

FWIW I think the club is better off without Grundy on the list, and I wanted Henry to stay. Neither deserve the crap that has been dished out.

Nope, it is widely used on social media in a derogatory was as I posted.

Perhaps you should stop stalking his social media and seeing what his favoured drinks are if that is your reason for the constant use.

And no again, I don't think more or less about him, I do know if I did I wouldn't resort to name calling.

Perhaps now that you have been made aware of how the term is also used you will stop using it?

Wow an urban dictionary….The gospel according to Garp.

I’ve stated why I use Soy Boy. And nothing else should matter. If it helps I can tighten my use by using the full Soy Latte Boy. Just so there is no confusion.

Unlike many on here I don’t censor inputs. I haven’t specifically stalked him. I continue to allow his feeds into my social media streams. I find them amusing to say the least. And as I’ve said he too now is taking the piss.

I have noticed though they have become fewer and fewer as his time as a Dreamon has increased. Maybe not getting the traction he enjoyed as a Pies player……

No more or less rude and snide than the replies I received in the like.

That I had to defend my claim that he wouldn’t be at the club by years end from most and sundry was laughable. And that I took that stance offended many of the perpetually offended. Even getting me band for arguing vigorously the case that he wouldn’t be at the club.

But here we are. He isn’t playing for us and is at the Dreamons.

So you might just understand why I’d be a little snide towards those who took it to heart that Grundy was going to be out the door. I was calling it as I was seeing it, without fear or favor.

Enough on Soy Latte Boy for this year. He’ll get his servings into the new season. Well before I need further involvement.

You used the term Soy Boy as an insult.

Tell the truth.

It would help enormously as it isn't just Urban Dictionary.

I must admit I can't see you calling other players out based on the type of coffee they drink. Flat white no sugar; long black; full cream latte?

But here we are. He isn’t playing for us and is at the Dreamons.

Good point perhaps time to let it go?

Just remember, being an incumbent doesn’t give you any more rights to comment.

Especially when they’re wrong most of the time.

And wanting people banned because they don’t agree with you……Geez what sort of common group think are we trying to create.

People not being able to see Soy Latte Boy for what he was, is exactly why we couldn’t move forward as a club. And having Dufflecoaters blindly supporting players ahead of the clubs needs was part of the problem.

Fortunately, we now have a more critical thinking Football and Coaching Department that has a driven focus. And it showed this year.

I feel a lot more confident that we’ll see prolonged success as they seem to be making the correct calls on our immediate needs. Without fear or favor. And that’s all we can ask.

If you break the forum rules you risk being carded. I know this from experience.

I hope you are correct about prolonged success, it’s what we all want.

The mods have politely asked you to stop the name calling. It’s up to you if you choose to listen.

This is an interesting take. Following your logic, even after being educated on what it is widely known to mean, Person A can call Person B any slur they want as long as Person A puts their own interpretation on said slur. Should go well...

I always thought the soy (latte) boy was a reference to Grundy having a different lifestyle and tastes than your average footballer, accentuated by the bookish glasses, the former man bun and his stated belief that premierships are not the be all and end end all of life, that there are other interests as worthy of pursuits. I visualised him hanging around cafes with like minded folk discussing poetry alongside football. I could see it was being used as a slightly derogatory term but I saw the reference as less offensive than stuff posted about Henry which sought to assassinate his character. I was as pissed off as the next person that Henry was leaving and the manner of doing so, and joined in the general heaping on of insults. As I did with Beams and I guess to a lesser and different extent Grundy.

Then when I looked up the soy boy meaning on Urban Dictionary, I guess the reference became more focused and seemed nastier, but I had almost come to see it as a term of endearment by this stage. I imagine that it's Grundy's more feminine like qualities which help set him apart from some of his teammates. The UD definition probably moves the soy boy reference into a more derogatory category than the one in which I had previously quite enjoyed its use. Perhaps Ronnie would be advised to drop it now that its newly discovered definition is seen as accusatory of being effeminate, but I sort of accept Ron's explanation.

To be frank, I don't have a problem with Ron as a poster. You get sick of reading the same old stuff rehashed a thousand times. I can also think of at least one highly regarded poster who can cut down fellow posters with his words in the nastiest and at times cruellest of manners, but who is never criticised and cops no censure from mods, perhaps because of a tendency to target less mainstream posters who are considered fair game. I really don't want to say anymore, but all too often this forum presents an uneven playing field. Posters can seem more or less abusive towards each other depending on whose perspective the posts are viewed from and the level of popular and strategic support enjoyed by the alleged perpetrator of the abuse. From where I sit in the forum, Ron is the least of my worries.
