Markov is officially trialling for our SSP spot from next week
I don't know a lot about him. Is he any good? What position is he going to play for us if selected?
Edit: He's 188cm so not really a KP. He's also from Belarus so is a Putin supporter.

Coaches have a habit of bringing guys they view as good citizen, solid role players over to their new clubs

Was waiting for a former Richmond player to join the pies

Trialled Naish last year… Markov this year

Given we are in the window and have a bit of youth already.. I don’t mind rookie some experienced depth

And FWIW I think it doesn’t bode well for out of contract Ruscoe that they are looking to bring another defender of his kind in as depth

We were linked to Naish, never trialled him. He went and trialled at saints then at eagles where they picked him up.
Markov is similar to Ruscoe (who is taller) and Ryan

My point is that Markov is going to be more beneficial to us winning a flag this year than Steene is.
of course.
Suppose it depends, are they looking for someone in the short term. Or someone for the future. The spot is up for grabs, out of the three.

Just hope no Injuries to 1 of our 3 Rucks

If we are relying on Markov to get us over the line this season I do not fancy our chances too much,I would prefer either Penny or Steene to Markov TBH. Because Penny and Steene could have a future not so sure about Markov, maybe none of them have a future but Markov has 8 yrs in the system already and 2 clubs.

Markov is the one McRae wants.

No one has been able to answer why we need another 19 year old ruck given we have Begg on the list.

We need a ruck, but Steene isn't going to come in and impact if Cox and Cameron go down this year.

I'd imagine at 204cm and athletic, he is more chance at being a future #1 ruck, than Begg who will be more your ruck forward given he is undersized, as everyone has stated.

Wont be your immediate answer clearly, but one thats shown he has ability for the future.

Darcy Cameron at 27 will be the #1 ruck for some time to come given they tend to last well into their 30s. Any ruck we get needs to be ready to come in at a moment's notice should there be an injury - that's the ruck depth we need, not one that needs to be groomed to be #1.

Both Steene and Guehrer don't impress me as ruck options for 2023 but when the chips are down and Cameron and Cox are on the sidelines, I'd much rather a 26 year old with a solid professional elite sports background come in to fill the hole than a 19 year old stick insect.

The club may opt for someone with AFL experience in Markov, it just wouldn't be my preference. Anyway it's out of our hands whomever they do choose, but I'll be paying attention closely.
So what you prefer someone that won't play for a couple of years?
Makes no sense at all.

And Markov may not play at all, unless its injuries.
I'm not against it, just not my preference. We all have opinions, that's mine.

How about this, everthing ive seen of the young ruck pre christmas, he has shown he deserves to be on the list.

A bit like Frampton then.

McRae looking "at the now" not at in "3 years time".
Perhaps he knows what he's doing.

A lot of players are good enough to deserve to be on an AFL list. Tom Phillips deserves to be on a list. Sydney Stack deserves to be on a list.

McRae and Wright have seen something to make them impressed. Just like they did with McStay. :)
