Seriously? In 19 & 20 if they drafted a ruckman he’d likely be ready about now. He wasn’t going to replace ROB in 19 & 20. It’s called drafting a balanced list so you have options.

As for who they would have drafted, that’s why we have a recruiting team of “experts”. Other clubs have drafted ruckman but we are so clever we don’t need to?

If you’ve been speaking to someone at the club they’ve sure done a good job of sucking you in with their bullshit.

They were obviously speedy happy with Rob in 19/20. He won a B&F (we were horrible). In 2021 I could only see Vesintini from Port as the only ruck drafted, and 2022 by reports we tried hard to trade in for Barnett and didn’t feel the need for either Verrall or Knobel

A position you usually trade in anyway so a bit easier to resolve once the rest of the team is sorted. And as much hate as he gets on here is still a middle of the road ruckmen - there are not many good consistent rucks around and ROB is as good as any in the second tier

Training today

Worrell Mcadam newchurch Sloane and Rachelle for a large amount of
Time were in rehab group

Filthy and laird in sparkling form

Some Train on players on attendance oloughlin haysman and Tahana
I think

Match sim Pedlar in probable team Murphy in possibles. Ned in main team

Filthy starred in ruck and convincingly took ROB to cleaners. He moved brilliantly around the ground

Laird was everywhere. Berry strong and tough.

Milera training well. Taylor in midfield won most centre clearances of all players at start of Match sim but then appeared to get hurt. He is such a natural footballer

Brown very quiet maybe getting used to routines

I'd love the reports on Junior's physical revival to cone to fruition. Combined with his return to playing behind the ball will be an unexpected joy. But, even when he was gunning off half back a few years ago, he always lowered his eyes. When you're that good and fast you can expand your vision becsuse you have more time than most. He hit up too many short kicks to leading players under pressure for my liking. He can be so much more than that, just needs to trust his pace and natural evasiveness.

Watching him the other day in match sim he was rebounding and linking in two and three plays following up looked really good

Again, if we drafted a ruck in 19/20 they weren’t replacing ROB then, but you know maybe down the track when he sucked!

We brought in Strachan because we weren’t happy with ROB, then rushed ROB back in, he had one good game then reverted to sucking. He even said himself his form was poor. If we had a decent replacement who knows, ROB might have not been rushed back in.

Look this argument has been done to death, but if the club think ROB is barely serviceable and spending a draft pick on one is is too much capital given some of the spuds we’ve drafted, well I’m staggered I even have to debate it.

We had heavy interest in Harry Barnett but just didn't have the draft collateral to land him with bringing in Rankine and without dipping into 2023 picks....a stronger draft.

This year. What about the previous years? You’ve thrown up names along the way and have called for a developing ruckman to be drafted because you obviously think it’s a good idea to have one but we haven’t, not one.

It's pretty obvious they think Strachan is good back up.

Seems Thilthorpe and Himmelberg are rated as next in line if and when they're needed but ideally I believe we should have a low cost young project Ruck developing behind them.

Will Verrall with his athletic profile and versatility to play forward would have been a great rookie opportunity IMO even with some ???'s over his endurance unfortunately at that time we didn't have the list spot available and he went to Melbourne with pick 14 of the rookie draft.

That’s this year, you’ve been calling for one for a few years. Strachan is such a good back up in their eyes that they rushed ROB straight back in.

And had they made a good draft selection over the recent years, they may have found one better than ROB, not just a back up.

So Mark Keane is the KPD everyone's been calling out for, apparently Justin Reid gave hint something was in the pipeline in an interview last week..

Well can't say that anyone saw this coming.
Reid gave a hint the other day actually that we might be looking at a defender in an interview.....probably didn't have him nailed down until now?

Not that he would have been the expected target..

194cm so not overly big for a KPD. Interesting that he wanted to come back and had been in discussions with Collingwood, who if they were interested would have had first crack you’d think.

Would be good if someone can remember seeing him play can comment.

The problem with Milera is translating his training form into match day when there are opponents running at him.

Brent Reilly had the same issue.

Taller than Steven May the 2021/22 All Australian

Also 7cm taller than Tom Doedee who is considered a KPD by pundits.

Same height as Murray as well.

Height won't be the issue.

Doedee is not considered a KPD by anyone that knows football.

Murray has a big leap.

Look I’m not bagging the selection, just that he’s not a tall KPD, but he might actually be a good defender and player.

I’m glad the club recognised we needed another KPD.
