Madge was literally one AFL game away from triggering a contract extension.

Which begs the question of whether contractual clauses influence selection decisions

Was Madge unlucky to not get another game and trigger an extension, or was he managed to make sure he couldn’t, or is that just the way the cards fell?

( I have similar thoughts about olly Henry and why he wasn’t selected late in the season when ash Johnson started to struggle for form. Would they ever have picked him or was he persona non grata already?

I also wondered about Grundy. Whether him and Henry were parked to make sure they were fit when traded. And whether it was a statement about culture.

Seeing who Moore’s tall support in defence ultimately ends up being in 2023 will be an interesting side show. None of the contenders have too many senior runs on the board. Kelly just as likely as Frampton or Dean at this stage.
Agree he has to be in the discussion just by being there. Framptons had 8 seasons without coming close to best 22, Kellys had 4 and Dean hasnt played any. All unproven and the real question is can 1 of them be come the 2nd tall down back. Kelly has a chance as the others dont have anything locked down.

He has been played , saw what happened a few times, not up to Senior standard , barely makes an impact in the seconds , would rather we kept McMahon who showed a bit more in half the allotted time .
Kind of agree tbh

But they kept him

So needs a block of games (if he can get through more than 1 or 2)

Hoping for a miracle

If his body holds up Will Kelly will be in it up to his eyeballs.

I've never lost hope that he'll come good.

Great mark, good kick. Needs some belief, and luck on the injury front.

Career defining year for him. I don't think he'll get any further opportunities unless he stakes a compeling claim for a senior spot.

I had the same thoughts about Henry and thought if they wanted him to stay, what better way than to play him during that unbelievable run.

But I'd say in both cases the selection committee were just making judgements purely on best team. They probably don't even know the trigger clauses.

Seems so long ago that he played his first game as a forward and did that elbow (I think). So much hope. so little payoff. Fingers crossed.

not playing Magden was the right call or he'd be on the list for another year. doubt he would be complaining about the chance Collingwood gave him.

except he is an awful mark
ive seen the ball bounce off his flat hands multiple times

It’s a confidence and timing thing, like a cricketer.
Once they’ve lost their catching confidence they drop them, mistime their dives etc.
