I just had a quick squiz, and it appears that WC have exactly zero FTA games on Ch.7 in the first 15 games.
Source: AFL Fixture: Each club's free-to-air games

Note that most Vic teams get plenty, and we are the only team with no allocated FTA time at all.

I know we were pants last season, but WTaF?

So much for McGowan requesting that all WA games be FTA...

Apart from the odd game that’s on delay, all WCE and Fremantle games get shown live on FTA in WA

It’s just that it’ll be the Fox version being shown on CH7

No different to any other year other than we’ve been pushed out of the high rating time slots which is fair given we were trash last year

It says this is just for Victoria.
"All times are listed for Victorian viewers and are local times"
...so they did. Thanks for that.

Remember kids, it's all about the fine print.

However, after a check of the WC website, it says the same. All games are on Foxtel and Kayo only, so...

Read Keys post.
I did. Keysers post makes perfect sense, and is in all likelihood correct.

However, the WC website under Matches/Fixtures shows that the first 15 games are only available to watch on Foxtel or Kayo. In previous seasons, from memory, it listed all available media outlets, including Ch.7.

As far as I'm aware, the WC website is not Victorian-centric. So why would it not show that the games are available on Ch.7 in WA, if that is actually the case. Just seems odd to me.

It’s wrong.

Had a look on the AFL site on their broadcast guide and every game shows kay/fox.

Crikey, I got there eventually.

Still doesn't explain why the WC website doesn't mention this. Although, I suspect that the club websites are all maintained by AFL-House.

I think it's meant to be an ad for the fact every game is on Fox/Kayo, not an exhaustive list. If you go on the Pies site its the same, even though most of their games are on 7.

Considering the team was borderline dead and run off their feet by the time the second quarter came around would be a pretty decent indicator that the teams fitness wasn't where it needed to be last year

Not posting this to promote Code Sports but the good thing here is that Mark Duffield is going to focus on West Coast whilst the other mob get Eliza Reilly

Even though he’s a Dockers supporter, Duffield is probably the best football journalist in the state and I don’t think it’s particularly close to second. More often than not he’s pretty balanced and has been around long enough not to be intimidated by Nisbett. His football knowledge is also good

In terms of getting an accurate account of all things West Coast, good and bad, this is a positive

I wonder if Duff will return to SEN? I really enjoyed his show.

Agreed. Was getting worried that he hadn’t come back this year yet so after reading your post I looked to see if there was anything to say if/when he planned to return

Best I could find was an article from a week ago saying JK was going to be a regular contributor to Gossage’s show. Reading trough I came to this bit

“In addition, Kennedy will have a further presence on the SEN WA airwaves as a weekly contributor for Mornings with Mark Duffield from February through to the end of September.”

So I take it Duff will be back sometime this month

I don’t like it when the players talk about underperforming in 2022.

We’ve underperformed since 2018. Last year was an accumulation, not an aberration.

They aren't going to talk in detail about any historic seasons other than the most recent - they are programmed to mostly look forward (and not rely on their history).

Your point is right, we have underperformed since 2018, but Shuey going on about how 2019 and 2020 were disappointing as we felt we had the list to contend would be about as pointless as him saying 'don't ask about 2022, lets just dwell on how great 2018 was for a while'

The main positive is that the decline got steeper which has forced action, and the whole club seem to have been told (and got the message) that standards have slipped a long way. Should it have been called out earlier - absolutely - but living too far in the past doesn't help impact the future, it has now been addressed and we hopefully move forward and improve.

Side note - I've tried to listen to SEN WA on 657AM or whatever it is and the reception is trash. My car has a DAB stereo (yes, I'm doing very well for myself) but there's no digital station.

They seem to be spending a fair bit of money to bury a station essentially on internet only.

To get my SEN fix I just record a bunch ads onto a TDK cassette, then sprinkle in some sound bites of sycophant Vic journos blowing ex-footballers whilst giggling. It's almost identical.

So accurate.

I used to listen to SEN when I lived in Melbs. Through the static of listening in the car yesterday it was like I was on a time warp back to reels of crappy ads and news that was about 7 minutes late.

Good times, good times.

Oh an I told you so moment….

Fair enough, a lot of people piled on him for his comments. Turns out he was probably right.

Every man and his dog knew West Coast were unfit last season, clearly wasn't hard to ascertain as even that peanut Cornes could see it.

My gripe with his comments is the way he blew it out of proportion and targeted certain individuals unfairly. Elliot Yeo got injured in a pre-season game and was clearly rushed back early. In a normal season he would have taken another 4 weeks to "build" his fitness, but we were so desperate for bodies on the field that we had no choice but to throw him out there.

Might be easier to stomach if Kane had ever admitted he was wrong about something.
