Some ranga ran on to the field and got tackled by 4 security gaurds. He was yelling “don’t you know who I am? I’m the moderator of the prestigious Eagles Bigfooty board”. Quite the scene tbf
Tackling hey? Give them all a jumper.

Agreed. Gaff is posing as a problem at the moment.
Well, there’s one simple solution. Chesser and Hewett showing a bit tonight makes it more of a realistic possibility sooner rather than later.

Lol jk he’s playing 22 guaranteed this season.

Don't suppose you know the breakdown of who kicked the goals and behinds for Port ?
Cheers.

Don’t sorry.

Think Teakle kicked one and No. 32 kicked a nice goal late from a tight angle. Tall fella

Sooner we move past Gaff the better sorry to say. Current game has gone past him
I think the game has gone past a lot of the high possession and slow outside type midfielders.

Matt Crouch is pretty much cooked at Adelaide.
Tom Mitchell didn't look much better at Collingwood earlier today by all reports.
Reckon that Jack Macrae might be in decline too.

The game seems to have evolved to faster play, so players like Gaff are less useful than they used to be.

Hewett will make a good sub/23rd man. I don’t think he has the tank to play 4 quarters at AFL level but he showed tonight he can clearly have an impact coming into the game late either in the centre or up forward

Not so sure about Macrae. He’s quite different to the others mentioned

I thought there were positive signs from Gaff tonight. Pushed forward kicked a goal, forward 50 tackle led to another. 2 things he hasn’t been well known for. We’ve not seen that sort of forward intent from him since 2018.

If he can start adding that consistently while still running the miles he’s going to be hard to push out of the side.

On the topic of faster ball movement, I think there’s two components:
  • moving the ball on quickly, which we did.
  • moving the ball directly toward goal, which we did not. I counted a sum total of 0 balls moved from defence through the centre square. Without fail, we moved the ball along the boundary.

Does that mean Culley is going to struggle?

Geelong do very well with running players that have lost some of their pace - use their gut-running to "set the net" of their zone defensively and have them run back through lanes in the middle on transition to support counterattacks created by players that are more explosive.
