Based on what?

We made finals more recently than them. We got Scott as a signal to the members that our fall from the 8 last year was a red herring.

It's not beyond comprehension that we should be playing better than this.
We didn’t get Scott expecting to play finals this year. We expected a more coherent game plan and defensive structure, to build a successful team

I don't think any club ever expects to play finals except Geelong.

But we did sack Truck because we fell out of the 8 and the club feels he wasn't getting enough outta the list. If the club thinks our list is bottom six and he had us there why'd we sack him?

We sacked him because we think we should be better.

People are actually reading into this? They train in this wind, we don’t. If we could’ve converted in the first it wouldn’t be looking too bad on the scoreboard.

I don’t necessarily think St Kilda are any good, but I’m hardly concerned.

It's the second pre-season game against a possible top 8 side when we're a clear cut bottom 6 side.

The sky isn't falling.
always an excuse, when has poor effort and skill execution been acceptable in praccy's in preparation for round 1? Country footy clubs are more focused than this rabble! Only at Essendon...this club is so full of shit talk from everyone associated its become normal to be shit

I honestly expected a bit better than this. I know we are no world beaters, but neither are Saints imo. They are missing some quality players as well.
You'd think with a new coach we'd come out least to try and impress.

I like the inclusion of Setterfield in the midfield.

We didn’t sack him because we didn’t play finals though. It was in the manner the team was playing. If those losses to port etc don’t happen like that. He’s still coaching

They finished a game out despite having the hardest draw in the AFL last year, are significantly older and more experienced than us and they got rid of Ratten for the exact same reason, but valid because they should be pushing for those spots.

It's not outrageous to think in our one "official" hit out that the game plan shouldn't be bomb it long it into the wind on the head of Davey and Tippa which we did a few times that quarter.

It's not to much to ask to have our players run from behind and provide overlap instead of standing still.

For Wright to play in front.

You're right about Perkins though, been impressive.

True. Wind is unique to this ground. Tulla is wind free.

So good!

I'd get it if there were some unique pockets, but adjusting to the wind should be bread and butter to teams. I guarantee most top 4 teams would still be slotting them.

It's always something isn't it? "Oh it's pre-season". "Oh they train in this wind" "Oh this isn't our best 22". Then when we're 1-10 AGAIN and win 8 of our last 11 AGAIN. We'll all pretend that we're just one key player away, only for Flogoro to * it up again and the cycle to start anew.

I have st Kilda bottom 6-8 this year. I’d say a few sides will go past them. Couple that with their forward line issues. If Marshall goes down they’ll struggle to win games.

They should absolutely be better than all of Adelaide, Essendon, Gold Coast, GWS, Hawthorne, North, Port and West Coast.
