Roberts the standout - Hayes and Tsatas very good
Lual just needs time but bugger me you can see he has "IT"
Caddy did well from limited opportunities
Weed and Bryan look disinterested
Is the Caddy comment a joke?

It's good to read our draft picks seem promising, especially Roberts.

How are the two experienced guys- Hately and O'Neill- looking?

Hately is one I'm curious about the most. Top 15 pick, didn't get into GWS stacked midfield. Maybe an outside shot at MSD?

Caddy ? he was done with in the first 10 minutes. Lost a tooth in a head clash with Weideman.

I thought O’Neil looked pretty good*

*I only watched until 3QT

Okay. Played one really good quarter but that was about it. We fought for most of the day but they where a lot cleaner with their disposal and a bit more methodical. We where a bit too manic and made too many skill errors. I think the group will get better with experience and time but we really are back to square one with the VFL list again. Think we have a few too many young first year VFL guys and need 2 or 3 more good VFL players. We where very thin up forward with Caddy gone early.

Tstatas - not a highlight reel game but the game I wanted to see. Played pretty much all midfield and he attacked the footy and contest. 24 disposals. 5 marks. 5 tackles. 5 clearances. Exactly what he needed.

Weideman - not the ideal start. Had to have his head stitched up after a head clash with Caddy. When he did come back on he was okay. Took some grabs. Dropped a few. Kicked 2 goals.

Hayes - had a heap of the footy and won some really good contests. Very few mistakes and they where under a lot of pressure in the back half. Very good.

Bryan - 40 hit outs but just needs to do more around the ground. Better second half disposal wise but zero marks and he got his hands to a few he should have marked. Working hard enough just not taking the next step around the ground. Tap work wise it was a good effort against Campbell and Heath.

Caddy - went to the dentist early.

A Davey - disappointed with his form. Too much outside sheep dog stuff and not enough pressure and tackling.

Lual - has improved week by week. 20 possessions and provided a bit of spark. Just has to tidy up the kicking.

J Davey - better this week. No flashy 40 meter runs for a goal but a bit more roll the sleeves up and make some tackles . Still a way of but he is playing.

Roberts - smart player. Nice left foot kick. Not a fast player leg speed wise but a fast player because he moves it on quick and hits targets.

Visentini - did well to get a couple of goals and a hit the post. Work in progress but he has done a few good things each week.

Liked the games of Peris and Foley Both made mistakes but the showed some dash to try and break the lines.

Like the fact the trainer found his tooth on the ground and took it around to the coffee van and put it in a cup of milk. Chanel 7 news feed running with young Bomber loses body part.

Tsatas looked like he has taken the message on board . Has been pretty fierce at a few contests.
Better at the contest but a few times gave off handball and watched the opposition run straight by and then the opposition was able to pressure or tackle.

needs to at least shepherd or put a arm across, so totally understood why he was dropped after seeing those efforts today.

Doesn’t really hurt the opposition and doesn’t look as composed as some ..like Roberts for example. It’ll take time

Byran, daveys, Weid, Hayes?. We seemed to lack players today who are naturally ultra competitive or hard at it.

AFL listed players were very soft in the contest today. Dodo certainly has his types. Apprehensive.

At least roberts had a good crack. Tsatas at times as well but didn't look like a top ten afl pick to me.

Roberts directing traffic, composed and gave a contest all day. Super impressed. Get him in.

never said he was perfect
if you are dropping guys for non shepherd there would not be many playing in any side.
I hate it as well but it is not something they teach much in junior footy anymore and it simply does not happen across a decent percentage of players in the AFL.
He was dropped for not attacking or attempting to go to a few contests. Today he was a lot better at doing it.
I will say that was my question mark on him before the draft and why I liked someone else.

You are right. Dodoro was never one to tick of competitor box. Just as well he is no longer picking any players. The three they picked last year have already shown they can compete. We all know the issues. How many times do you want to keep flogging the same horse ?

How long does ess want to keep flogging the same horse and have dodo around?

So my answer is until dodoro is gone.
Simple really.
Also might want to tell dodo he dies nothing of importance anymore as certainly not what he says.

Well they now have him in a role that does actually suite his skill set and he is good at. From my view it is a waste of time being bitter and letting something out of my control consume my thoughts. They have replaced 90% of the role he was doing and it is a new team making new decisions that he is not leading. At least he has not been a total dud and has left some players worth working with despite his short comings.

Ant, watched sporadically on the phone whilst at family easter but curious to know who you like from the VFL list?

Eckersley at 192cm intrigues me but doubt we need another mid sized defender, Foley could be a reasonable enough small defender (is he still cat b eligible?). Think the (former) afl contingent are at the standard they belong in Peris, O'Neil, Hately.

One of my best mates is from the same town as Tom Toma, says his family are absolutel bulls at the contest in local footy up bush so no surprise he is competing well at VFL level.

Have not really formed a solid view as their are so many new players and I have only been watching live so it has been more focus on the listed guys. Until I watch a replay or two my view will be a bit compromised. What I do like is the like to play on and run the footy. Skills errors have hurt them a bit but they all seem to go hard.

Toma is how you described him. Very hard it it. From Cohuna via Golden Square. Have a bit of family who live in the Cohuna area and surrounds. Looks like he can be a solid VFL player.

Eckersley looked okay yesterday. Former GC academy .

Liked what Mathew Foley did. Tried to take the game on from half back.

Campbell Gray is a lanky defender that goes hard but has made a few errors so far. May have some scope to improve.

Will Hoare is not new but has gone okay in defense.

Solly McKay is another who has been on the list for a couple of year but not played a lot. He has looked better.

Monti who also played at Golden Square and played 4 VFL games with GWS in 2022. Played with the Pioneers at under 18 level and was a good player for Golden Square last year so he could be something at VFL level as well.

Jack Peris was good. Hately okay but I was expecting a bit more from him. O'Neil was better this week.

Probably lacking in the strong body 190cm plus guys.
