I only barely tolerated Quarters because Duff was so good - but Quarters constantly talking over Duff started to grate.
Nothing could persuade me to listen to Quarters and Barra - vomit inducing.
But no bad thing because I struggle to fit in all of the pods during the week as it is (First Crack, Fox Footy, Purple Reign, Hard Ball Gets and Handy Point).
Thankfully Freo publish some of the radio interviews (including Duff) on their pod channel.
This is 100% truth. After 20 min I started to wonder when it was going to be over... It was almost like listening to my 14 year old son and his friends talk about soccer. They all talk over each other and try to out do the other. That was one of the worst pods I've listened to in a very long time.
I'm going to send them an email and then unsubscribe. I recommend others do the same. It's all about the clicks, people.

I get the feeling he will be shit as usual but I have stated my opinion on the fact that I don't want Hughes being anywhere near the team more than enough times.

wasn't expecting that from Damo, he earns a bit of respect for those non-Vic biased remarks. He is savvy enough to recognise the "J-Lo trajectory" as not being defined by what happens this season alone, although agreed he paid a bit too much credit for that Semi loss to Hollingwood, we were poopie that night.

Sarah Olle gives the typical "toeing the party line" response that we're not going to improve (with zero support or justification) but Damien Barrett really goes into bat for us. If anything I think he might give us a bit too much credit for the way we played against Collingwood in the Semi.

neither did I. I'm so used to the AFL's disrepectful and casual dismissive attitude of us, I've slunken into apathy about it, whereas I used to get really annoyed by it before. It's nothing new, so why bother....it's comical, in the end they make the spotlight fall on themselves and how inept they are when dealing with us. It's why I sincerely hope we win it soon, can't way to see how they handle THAT
Yeah I don't take it to heart at all but I know others like responding to that stuff one way or another.

Call me deluded, but I just can’t see us finishing outside of the eight this year.
Been a heap of Vic Media predicting us to fall out of the 8 due to improvement from teams like Carlton and Richmond.
A few us may blow a gasket if we drop out of the 8.

The main concern people have with us is path to goal and not knowing how we will achieve it. The first few rounds will answer that question and then suddenly we'll be tipped as big improvers and lock us in for top 8. During the first few rounds - there will also be a split between people who say 'they havent beaten anyone important yet' and those who respond 'you can only play whats in front of you'.
It's easy enough for media types to backflip on their early predictions by saying that 'how we would go this season was unknown because of the question marks over our forward line' and move to 'our young developing core have stepped up again and the questions on our forward line have been answered' to 'we are a legitimate flag contender' this season.
I don't expect anything different any season. We know that analysis from the media is skin deep. And sure we pine for someone to actually know us in the same depth as what we see when people discuss Vic teams - but reality is we operate in a market that is Eagles focused, and vic-pundits aren't going to know much about us compared to their backyard. So why the surprise
Enjoy the shallow commentary and know that it's all meaningless in the end, and carry a sense of glee and f-you when we end up top 8 and 'surprise' the media when we all saw it coming from a long way back *

The media are leeches who wouldn’t exist without the players and the audience. They’re useless middle men who contribute nothing of value. Their entire purpose is to generate clicks, views and listens for advertisers and sponsors (who are mostly gambling related or fast food etc). Who gives a shit about what the latest ‘take’ or controversy they are spouting.
