It means * all

We’ve killed it

Ended up with Thomas, Franklin, Rowley, Schilling and Lakay out of that draft cohort.

Also, I think we’ve now got 30 players so unless we delist someone we won’t use the draft at all.

Picks 3 and 21 which I assume are our first two picks? Means Freo have the first four picks in the WA pool, not that it matters terribly this year.

Yeah this year is almost certainly a complete write-off draft wise, we've committed absolute robbery

Cannot believe we didn't have to use our first next year or a decent player, let alone no picks next year and no player at all! I'd be fuming if I was them

They may be able to use 3 to get a player from another club wanting to jump the queue? But surely unlikely.

Sorry if I have missed it - is this giving up picks 3 and 21 in the supplementary draft April

or

in the draft for players coming on the coming on the list in 2024?

In other words are we missing out on players previously been overlooked

or

Freo get all of Shroj, Cleaver, Henry, Raison, v/d Heever etc

Upcoming draft. I don’t think they ended up allowing future picks to be traded, even though current picks have very little value.

We are still looking good for 24 draft.

That said, say goodbye to Cleaver

Shroj or Henry will come in.

We good for talls now

I think there is still the remnants of something like a gentleman's agreement where clubs dont stand in the way of players that want to move. They get the best deal they can, and if its not a great deal, bad luck, move on.

Partly this is forced. Its just really hard to get equal value deals in the AFLW with a compromised draft and semi pro players with external careers etc.

Freo did right by Amy, but also, what are their options? WCE cannot force a player to move, and there is limited option to trade draft picks if future picks are off the table. Its this, or play hard ball with Amy, which is against the spirit of the AFLW so far.

So here is our list of 30

Amy at CHF makes us look so much better. Pretty damn good line of Roberts, Franklin, Thomas

That forward line is a little biggish to me. None of them are very big, but none of them is a small ground player either. They are all lead and mark, or at least players that draw the ball, there aren't any whos game is to get to the feet of a forward for crumbs. Not even Bartlett who is the most goal sneak style player among them. I would probably leave Thomas back, she is quality in the backline, and have Gibson or Davison up forward

Good insights - it raises the issue of options and that is exactly what Amy will allow.

Remind me why not? Have they changed the cut off dates so this is players who’ve already been draft eligible?

Yes. 2004 birthdays (Ella and co) were eligible last year but 2005 birthday won’t be available until the next draft.

It’s basically a correction after there were two seasons (and so two drafts) in 2022.

Yeah, it's robbery. But I still remember Freo somehow getting 'compensated' many top draft picks in our debut year despite having a massively stronger list, so... (shrug).

Agree that Srhoj and Henry are the two best picks now, and it will probably be both, because having lost Franklin, Freo pretty much have to take Cleaver if she's available. Between Lewis, McDonald, Rowley, Roberts, Franklin, Wakfer, Thomas, Lackay and eventually Srhoj and Henry, that's turning into a good-sized group of talented kids. If we add at least another five when the 2006s arrive, we'll be stacked.

Is it a dog act on her part?

Probably.

Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

Happy Jim Carrey GIF

She’s copping it a fair bit already.

But she’s happy.

More importantly though, I’m happy 🤝🏽
I'm sure she did it knowing what was coming.

Also shows that while still in an age of semi professionalism, clubs need to take into account who young players they they draft barrack for. Because there has already been a number of cases of players going to 'their' club as soon as they can.

Also good to see that all the players West Coast lost this year were delisting's. No player we would have wanted to keep left, also, we kept a number of players we probably didnt want to, but thats another story.

I was delighted that Roberts was not part of the deal. I am sure the Purples asked and if Ella was really wanting to move, she could have manipulated it

From what I hear, Ella is super happy at WCE. We as an organisation know she’s the future and have our things in place.

I’m confident we can rise up the ladder shortly and be a genuine threat

WAFLW Peel vs Claremont, Evie Cowcher; 29 disposals, 8 marks. Padded a bit by taking most of the kick-ins, but even that's impressive given she's 15 years old and the best kick in the team. Clear best 2007 kid right now, though I'm expecting Olivia Wolmarans, Alicia Blizard and Alira Fotu to catch her at some point. Might take longer given they're all even taller than Cowcher, and taller players often take longer to physically mature.

It sounds like there is a core group of friends of about the same age at WC, of which Ella is a part.
