If we win the spoon this year Simmo and the rest should go.

No way we should finish below this awful, awful Hawks side.

Oh and by the way this is what happens when you get rid of anyone over 28, for those who are all 'play da yoof' at all costs.

100+ loss coming up for the hawks.
Would be nice for the media to start putting the torch on them proper.

Hawthorn went the popular (with media types route) and moved on the oldies for draft picks. It means they’re “doing something” so they’ll get given leeway for now

If they stay down the bottom for another year or so, then the media will come for them because the rebuild hasn’t brought results quick enough

There’s barely anybody in the media I’d trust with a list build. Idiots, the lot of them

Some interesting comparisons here. Pies still have plenty of veterans in, average age of a year more than West Coast’s side last week, but with their young talent obviously firing from a very early age.

Swans are going really well with a very young side.

Hawks have gone the whole hog with 14 players under the 50 game mark and a super low average age.

Eagles somewhere in between and very much carrying an even spread of people in each bracket, albeit the results are shit so we need to reshuffle it and go younger.

Nothing about the Hawks method should be the model of choice imo. It’s simply, to use a very good phrase, too far the other way.

I’d be so angry as a freo supporter. No decent key forward, no first round pick and potentially not playing finals.

Swans identify the right type of young player far better than many - they have an academy - but they work far harder for good outcomes. They look broadly at all available kids and make wise assessments. They take nothing for granted.

Perhaps playing oldies and losing is better than playing youngies and losing.

Maybe Simmo or Nissy is onto something. Will not scar the younger players and will not be accused of tanking. Keeeps younger hungry
I mean Hawks will get some young talent this draft again but where's the on field leadership going to come from? Shiels is making North a better team and to an extent so is Howe. Hawks could have done with a Mitchell or O'Meara today. Gonna be a few floggings for Hawks this year.

You say you think we'd offer English more than 800 a yr and I don't think he's worth that much.
We paid Kelly more and we had to pay 2 years worth of picks .

Paying more than 800k to get English who is rucking very well ATM for free is terms of draft capital is a no brainer to me .

His ruck work was always his biggest downside but he is getting better and more dominant every year

Indeed. Pick 1 seems their only priority for this year.
I would guess sam Mitchell and hawks have a plan to completely bottom out for the next few years . Probably get some sort of assistance package before the tassie team comes in and make another run at a dynasty when the devils take all the young talent in the comp for a few years
