They'll try to resist blooding him this soon if they have a choice. Don't want to ruin our future kids before they are ready. Guess we'll find out tonight, to see how much game time he gets.
Up against Naismith is quite the test, and will see how much he can handle. He did well enough against Ceglar a few weeks ago.

The good thing is he'll be up against a 30yo 206cm 108kg ruck with AFL experience tonight.

Go better than expected and he might be a sneaky chance.

Get monstered and the selection decision will be an easy one.
If he plays a full game not a chance for next Thursday.
Half a game and he's a chance.

If Steene had played 3 or 4 games in the VFL I would no worries about bringing him , I think he would have played games before the end of this season and I think he will be a regular before the end of next year. I can tell you 1 thing I will be watching closely tonight,he is good in the tapwork dept and he was not the worst around the ground.

I think the pictures of him and Nicnat who is 203cm show that 205cm is probably closer to the mark,he is proper ruck man size than Beggy and I agree with the person who said Steene is better suited to ruck than Begg was when he was thrown in the deep end.

I'm of the "Play Oscar" camp. I don't want to risk McStay who we've invested so much in to play as a tall forward, in the ruck. 3 weeks into the season and rucks are falling like flies. (Stanley, Gawn, Cox, Cameron)
At least Oscar is a ruckman and has some ruck craft.
McStay has straightened us up and released Checkers, Elliot, Reef, Ash J to fly for marks one out. He also rarely gets outmarked himself so Bobby and other crumbers are loving his contest.
Please Pies, don't wreck the forward structure to bandaid a ruck situation. We have a tall (young) ruckman who has played some seniors in SA, back him in and let's see where he takes us.
I agree. Fly says he want to ensure young kids are in a position to be successful but one or two games with zero expectations can't hurt him and may inspire him.

He got beaten by Naismith,no surprises there but got better as the match wore on,took a good mark defensively on the wing and was given 2 50mtr pens to kick a goal which we needed att. He has a good leap and he has a go which is all you can ask of a 19 yo in his 2nd game.

After watching him play I am so glad we were able to draft him I am with Jen here I think he will be a very good ruck for us within 2 seasons.

Grundy used to maul Tim English for fun every time we played them, now hes filled out a bit hes more than handy. Big blokes take time. This kid should be a ten year ruckman for us. Has the tools

This.
The kid will take time, but he'll be good. You can just see it in the things he does. Can take a mark for someone so young and lack of strength. Is good in the air and has a leap in the ruck contest, his tap work is really great.

I’m not sure anyone has suggested he is, just that he could play a role given our circumstances.

i think the coach talks about planning for players to succeed....i think there are other options more likely to succeeed ...and that's my opinion and others can have their opinion.
