How would you compare him to when Begg made is debut?

I thought of that. The Fly says that he doesnt coach players to fail and you would have thought that there was a risk with begg but he did try hard and the coach focussed on that. Steene looks level headed and persistent. They're good traits to take on the challenge but I still dont think he's up for it.

Need to time it better when he goes for a Mark as just about everytime he went for a Mark he went up too early
I think good he has the courage to try and mark it I think he will get better with experience.
Saturday showed that he is not ready and it would better if he had either DC or Cox with him but I do think he is our best chance at a long term ruck since Grundy and unlike Grundy can take a mark and knows how to tap to his midfielders.

I'm not an avid follower of our VFL team, other than checking results and stats etc., but with the introduction of the automatic sub rule this season, tomorrow night could be the ideal opportunity to debut Steene. From reports I've read he's young and raw, but did play senior footy in the SANFL at the back end of last season, notching up 4 senior games.

Playing him allows him to get a taste of AFL footy, minimises the disruption to our preferred structure and, if it doesn't work for the first half, he can always be replaced by the sub. If he plays well it's a bonus and he will have 9 days to recover for the match against GWS on Sunday-week.

Fly has ruled it out. He isn't quite ready, which is fine given how young he is. We don't want to throw him to the wolves.

Seems like Lane and Fort both have more hit outs then Steene. I’m seeing 42-8 total hit outs in brisbanes favour too.

Is Roberts injured?

Surely Faye gets a game soon as well.

We need to give Steene some support.
Doesn't look like Roberts is on the vfl list.
We have Purcell, Delaney to help out Oscar. Purcell was pretty quiet today though with Oscar having to shoulder the load.

Got no choice now if Mason doesn’t get up next week. we have to play Steene.
Mason was operated on during the week, for a ruptured spleen, so I can’t see him coming back next week. He has been told to rest for another fortnight.

No argument.

BUT . . .

1 Boy Vs 2 Men

Could never have gone any other way.

He did show courage and kept going for his marks.

Can hold his head up whereas many of his team mates shouldn't.

He literally took 0 marks as a 201cm ruckman. He’s just so far from ready.

If he’d actually ruptured his spleen, he would be out for the season.
