We played well last year far better than most people expected so we can't forget that but it's clearly not working anymore, not even close. Finally need to be more aggressive with team selection and make adjustments to the way the team is structured without the ball and how they move it when they have it.

Otherwise it's time to look for potential replacements..

If there was ever a day I would have liked to see Longmuir go down to the bench and rally the troops it was today
They looked , flat bewildered and rudderless.
WTF was there to lose .
Get down there and rev them up JLo
Don’t reckon he’s got the fire and it’s showing in the team .

Agreed. He has no energy. An outdated game plan and will not budge. Another season down the drain. How long must we sing this song?

Coaches contracts don't mean anything now days - six month payout is all that's needed. It won't happen until we're a mathematical chance of not making finals.

Should happen right now.

The game style being played is so far off what’s need in the modern game I’m genuinely not sure I’ve seen a coach misjudge it this badly.

Not like this squad is short of talent either. We’ve been the better side on paper every week. The bookies except maybe this week agree with me too so it’s not just my bias.

This is the one glimmer of hope. Amidst all of the justified dooming, we have a pretty good squad. Yes there are still holes and yes we're sort of ****ed this year on track for a bottom 4 finish with no pick but the talent on the list at the moment is decent.

Things could uptick very quickly, both with experience, new leadership or even the penny dropping for JL.

I'm probably way off here... but I reckon JL copied Melbourne's gameplan last year, and it worked (for most of the year). So this year, he went with Geelong's gameplan... except other teams have figured out how to beat Geelong? Or maybe it's a coincidence that Geelong are 0-3.

This is how I see the state of coaching and, unfortunately, we’ve got one who sits in the middle of the curve.
Lol. I like this meme. But there is space to be smart. I watched Brisbane vs Collingwood on Thursday as the Pies are tactically the most interesting team going, and it was interesting how the Lions outsmarted them. The Lions were very happy to slow the game down and take it away from the Pies, but when it was time to run red hot they could match it with them.

Very fascinating to see a team go with Pies in the run-and-gun style but methodically chip it around when they had to. We can do the latter, but not the former, and a big part of the reason is we don't have the goal kicking quality in our team the likes of Rayner and Cameron.

Has anyone been able to bring themseleves to watch the presser (I know I can't)? Was there any self reflection or did he just do the usual and say the players aren't executing his brilliant gameplan?

I still think this is a fairly simple game plan. It’s just two simple game plans. I think that’s probably what JL is going for, but less flicking a switch and more playing a hybrid style. One player chips it, the next player plays on and moves it quickly, then the next player slows it down and chips it. That categorically does not work.

We have gone from a savvy ultra-defensive coach to a conservative, defensive coach

Freo way to go.
Indeed.

Though I'd note our newly conservative, defensive coach just gave up our most points against in nearly two full seasons...

Backing him in. Nicks have had several terrible seasons.
Hardwick took a few years. Clarkson too.

This club cannot continues the poisoned chalice and keep sacking coaches. There’s no one available.

Bell needs to go, Garlick on slippery slope. Dale Alcock is pretty shit tbh
