Very interesting. Could it just be a tactic to motivate Lance?
Talk is cheap. It might be true right now but things change including another player taking your spot cause they win it.

It's probably a bit of both, motivating Lance (or Sam šŸ˜) but also rewarding Purdy. Whoever has the best offseason (and isn't injured) come week 1 will be the starter.

Unless some team offered a 1st for Lance it ain't happening.

Rookie contract.
Unseen potential realization.
Probably the leagues most uncertain qb room with most upside.
A team set everywhere else on the field.

There is enough uncertainty at the qb position the team doesn't need to create anymore instability where stability exists today.

Lynch has addressed most roster holes in FA....paving the way for the team to draft another rb. šŸ˜³ A lot will hinge on shoring up RT and corner.

Seriously, team can just take BPA as long as they have a realistic chance of making the roster in the draft.

Probably, Shanahan said the same thing.

Will need to earn the job not be given it.

Good situation to be in

If the 9ers want to keep him we have enough flexibility with franchise tag, increasing salary cap and a few other big contracts coming to an end.

But if the offer is too good to refuse.....
They'll probably try to make him look exceptionally good in the preseason and try to get two 1sts back for him?

It's a question to AJ_2000's "an offer too good to refuse". What would that be for him?

Id have though 1 mid to late first round pick is more than enough. Teams aren't going to give you a big return for a player coming off his rookie contract who's only had more than 1,000 yards receiving just once in four seasons. Having said all that, I think hes been very under-utilised by the Niners as mentioned many times and will probably be far better off elsewhere, thats why he could fetch a first. On numbers hes worth no more than a second.

Exactly, well said. It's a tricky one because talent and utilization by a much better offensive coach/qb would make those teams value him more that the Niners could puah for more compensation. But on pure numbers, the Niners can't ask for more than a 2nd.

Tee Higgins is probably the only WR2 on a team currently that id consider giving up 2 firsts for, and even then, I think you could get him for less than that.

(Jaylen Waddle also, but I highly doubt Miami move on from him, there has been talk about the Bengals trading Higgins coz they have to fit Burrow's contract in)

A first for Aiyuk would be minimum to gain interest...but I doubt they would be on offer.

So if they did a trade and say got a first....they draft a WR in place who will be 2 years from being productive in this offense...and that doesn't even consider the bust factor.

Throw in a developing qb room and I'd say pass.

Titans and Moore and the subsequent trajectories are all I need to see as a lesson learnt.

Brown not Moore.

The point was you may not be able to afford to keep him and thats why you would trade him. If he makes it to free agency I hope the Panthers throw the sink at him with the shit tone of cap space we'll have next offseason

Thanks for correcting in Pattaya, have a super-sized hangover and a tee time I'm 30 minutes...head not yet connected.

Franchise and trade maybe. Williams,, Kittle and Deebo maybe off books by the time any Aiyuk big numbers come into effect too.
