If Benny is the gold standard, you'll see in the stats how much a full season has hurt Will in comparison to the our 1st picks in the draft at the club in the midfield (have included TP for comparison and took out Chom) and it does have an LDU smell about it.

Yes because talking to Will in his draft year certainly would have given a strong indication that he was going to be struck down by glandular fever following a bout of Covid at some point in the future.

Seriously, anyone who has spoken to the bloke comes away impressed. With the benefit of hindsight, you can level the accusation that 5 minutes in the presence of Jason Horne Francis reveals everything you need to know including serious red flags and reasons to possibly look elsewhere. But you don't see that with Will Phillips so the due diligence argument is not relevant to any discussion about whether he was best choice at pick 3.

You just get better with every post. It's an enjoyable distraction I must say.

I just want to make sure I have you right here - you are saying let's not interview potential draftees in the 12 months before drafting them - because you know - they might not be able to forecast their own health issues in 12 months time. Have you considered a career in HR? That sort of logic could reshape the whole recruitment industry.

Well said. WP cracked in hard on the weekend. It wasn’t a pretty game and he had 9 tackles. Most by any player and the next best for either side was Wardlaw. Disposal count was 385-314 our way so he put in a shift.

For comparisons sake Cunners had 0 tackles for the game.

This is why one of them is lining up in the AFL and the other is an emergency.

We need to stop looking at just kicks and handballs to justify team selection. Will worked hard and I know we have injuries, it still matters that he got the nod.
