mmm how about Leppitsch???.. the brains trust behind collingwood atm
Would be good but I think he’d see it as a sideways move. Likely will get the tigers or another senior gig very soon anyway. Could also be a bit awkward for Vossy working “under” the guy that replaced you in Brisbane.

Yes but their lists - especially Hawthorn’s were far less developed. And though it’s nice to cherry pick examples where staying true to a coach worked out there are many times when it did not and years were wasted.
We've wasted years turning over coaches because we can't stay the course and think the new shiny thing will turn it all around

If Hardwick comes as DoC hopefully he is able to appoint a great tactical mind to the coaching panel to support Voss and the whole crew.
How?
Instead of paying said tactical coach we'd be paying Hardwick.
How do we get great assistants if we're paying top coin to a 'director of coaching'?

Just stop ****ing around and get some good assistants from premiership systems and have them drive standards/expectations.

You don't think that having a recent triple premiership coach in the role of DoC helps to drive those standards? How would it be ****ing around?

Voss - 3 Premierships as player
Lonergan - 1 Premiership as a player
Hansen- 1 Premiership as a player, 1 as a VFL coach, 1 as an AFL Assistant Coach
Power - 3 Premierships as a player
I reckon our coaches have plenty of Premiership System Experience

Yep, agree.
Great players, but great coaches...?
Not looking good.

I thought we didn't want training wheels, but looks like everyone is making mistakes at the moment when we need some certainty in performance. Specifically, our coaches.

NOW is when we see what these coaches are really made of.

If Hardwick made ANY decision about his future whatsoever, it is so far away from where this club is currently at, that it doesn't even warrant a second thought. Seriously. He hasn't even had his first lay-in yet.

Won’t happen till the soft ***** at the AFL, raise the soft cap….imo
I agree with your point. I am also hoping that the AFL has watched two coaches walk away from the game in the last fortnight (albeit, one due to extenuating circumstances) and will therefore review the soft cap rules.

Rumor time. Paraphrasing what I was told.
If Hardwick comes across to Carlton it will not be to replace Voss.

Despite the disappointing start to the season the club itself is still locked in on Voss. What Sayers published on Monday is how he and others at the club actually feel. It wasn't just smoke.

Dimma is completely burnt out. It took some encouragement from those at Richmond for him not to walk away at the end of last year. He was excited by their recruiting and that helped persuade him to stay. The decision that he made was not sudden despite Morris breaking it early.

If we get Hardwick to the club it will be in the form of "director of coaching." There is interest in Hardwick assessing how our club currently operates and improving standards to support Voss. A big part of this will be in identifying prospects to join the club as assistant coaches.

If Dimma eventually finds the want to coach again and the opportunity presents itself at the right club he'd be able to pursue it. My contact says it is highly unlikely that he will coach in 2024.

My contact compared it to what Roos did for Melbourne without him coaching them while Goodwin served his apprenticeship.
Appreciate the info Wickzki

My personal opinion or belief is that I don’t think this is reality, I think if Dimma was to ever come to our club it would be as senior coach. I just don’t see him accepting a director of coaching or senior assistant type role to Vossy. He is still young enough to coach for 5-10 plus years and has so much to give, I don’t see the similarities with him and Paul Roos. I just feel Dimma needs a break and will be back coaching in the right situation in 2024/2025.

I honestly fear for Vossy going forward. First i wanna say I actually really like Vossy and I really hope he can turn this around, I just fear if the same results continue I don’t see the club extending his contract going into next year and with Sayers going at the end of the year, I believe Cookie will be leaving as well, where does that leave Vossy with his contract up and a new CEO and President coming in?

Also if we are getting specific, Vossy wasn’t exactly Cookie’s choice. At the time he joined the club, Sayers and Diesel was already so far deep with Vossy that Cookie just approved the decision based on the information supplied by Diesel.

Interesting times ahead in my opinion

Yep, def needs a rest, but I also believe the Dimma to Gold Coast speculation. IMHO I think he quit this early in the season so he could have a break before taking up the reins at GC for a Godfather offer.

I don't think Vossy is in much danger as it is apparent that the same issues that plagued Bolton & Teague are still here.
Nick Austin seems to be very good at his job but has inherited a large ClusterF#ck of bad contracts and previous poor recruiting decisions.
I think it more likely that the club sticks with Voss to cleanout & partially rebuild if our 2023 season goes completely down the tubes.

Duncan, Guthrie, Tuohy, Boak

Can't see any of them leaving, aside from Boak perhaps. He hasn't won a flag though and I'm not sure where he fits in our side. The others would all fit nicely.

Can we please stop with the Hardwick discussion. It’s not only making me ill just thinking about it but it’s going to make me have Malthouse nightmares all over again...........stop for the love of god.
Ex Bombers Player, Ex Tigers Coach, the pure Carlton hate & internal sabotage on 2 fronts right there...

From 15 to 20yrs ago. Footy has changed immensely since then. None of those guys have been apart of a recent premiership system

Have to smile at the predictions of what Dimma will do next. It's been only a couple of days since he left Richmond. I doubt even he has any clarity right now about what he'll end up doing next. The rest of us are just throwing darts while wearing blindfolds.

Good on the club for making its interest known re director of coaching though. If he does decide he wants to stay involved in footy in a less intense role, then hopefully we'll be at the front of the queue.
