Yep Chook is up there.Mine too! Throw in Kelly and that is my top 4
Never.Ahem! Sam Taylor says "don't forget about me!"
Agree with all of that except for Angwin. Some good aspects from the game, and a couple of negatives:
Still, have to be happy with the effort that the boys put in. Winning our last 3 games at MHBA Stadium is amazing.
- inspirational effort from Toby in his 200th, leading from the front; his 4 first half goals gave us some belief
- Briggs was excellent and has clearly overtaken Flynn as preferred ruck (game high 8 clearances, 5 tackles & a goal)
- Riccardi had his best game since his first year - if he can keep taking those contested marks, his goalkicking is surer than Jesse & Cadman
- Binga was superb - his speed and spark was something we really missed last year
- the defence as a whole was pretty good, kept Jezza & Hawk to a combined 3 goals
- Keeffe was solid & did a better job than I thought he would
- Idun had a strong game, both in defensive and rebound aspects of his game
- Ash, although he did have a couple of soft defensive efforts, did take a couple of strong contested marks, and kicked pretty well today
- Whitfield probably had his strongest game in 2 years, not as wayward in kicking nor as soft in defence (although still not where he was)
- we missed a few easy set shots (Toby, Jesse, Cadman) that should have put us further ahead at 3Q time
- Cadman took a couple of good marks, but he's got the yips: needs to take some pressure off by going back to VFL and give Derksen a run (although it will probably be HH coming back from concussion who'll take his spot)
- Brown is still problematic: several of those goals stemmed from poor decisions or poor efforts from him
- as others have said, Peatling gives 100%, but his skills are lacking - he's a cheap backup player
- Angwin is still so-so IMHO; not convinced
Binga is Brent Daniels. Is Bedford Binga?
He looks so dynamic in the small amount I've seen this season.
Although not sure his brain can keep up with his legs just yet.
The others have had more time to win my heart ,Ahem! Sam Taylor says "don't forget about me!"
That is the problem with free agency. I think it should remain, but club wanting to sign needs to pay part of the compensation. Players association probably never agrees to this though.Yep Chook is up there.
People bag Cogs, Chook, Whitfield and Haynes for the coin they are on to stay.
Not knowing they were offered a lot more by other clubs to go.
Agree on all of this …. And Carmen needs to keep playing in the onesThat was a win full of character, yes they had a lot of outs but so did we and to beat them on their home ground was a great effort for such a young team.
The most pleasing aspect was the manic pressure and care in defence, this is the stuff we craved when we had the big name players and were a flag threat but seldom saw, Kingsley is changing this.
Our pressure index was through the roof, guys like Daniels leading the charge.
I have been critical of Angwin since he was drafted, well, got another one wrong. He is a nice young player, he’s not agile, he doesn’t have a bag of tricks but he’s got great endurance and he has something a lot of our players in the past have not shown…composure.
Hogan may not be a rocket scientist in real life but he is one of the most tactically smart footballers in the comp, the number of things he does and the way his mind works to get the best outcomes is very impressive, he is playing career best footy.
Ash copped some flack on here but as a defender he will make some errors that will cost but his work ethic cannot be questioned. I thought overall he was pretty good and he stood up in key areas. Idun was amazing and young Brown except for one notable error is showing signs, great athlete and seems pretty unflappable.
Cadman lost a little confidence last week and that continued on. He will be a bit like that as a young tall but these games are gold for him to get. He will keep improving and will be fine.
Toby Greene is God.
Yep, Keeffe probably the unlucky one as he played well, but no real monsters in the Tigers forward line.If HH and Haynes return this week, I think it will be for Cadman and Brown/Keeffe.
Didn't notice him out there except for when Cal Ward belted him.Speaking of Bruhn, anyone missing home yet?
Agree on all of this …. And Carmen needs to keep playing in the ones
Yep more points:
Keefe …. Very limited footballer but he gives it his best. GreT effort on porky
Ward…. People calling for him not to resigned for next year are dead set nuts …. Still got lots to offer
