PIEMAN RESULTS Rd 16 v Fremantle

A few season's bests/firsts today. Equal most goalkickers in a game (11) with Rd 6 when we played ... Fremantle. Four Chumps. Dale's first goal of the season. Without going back and checking I'd say the average Pieman score (96.8) and the median (88) would be the highest for any game this year. And there were 18 scores over 100. Also it was good to see our three gun forwards (Marra, Naughton, Cody) get half the team's goals. That's about the right balance I reckon.

Anyway it was a solid win in an "8 point" game where we were challenged for most of the match. We've put space between us and Freo and we're tracking well for another finals appearance.

WB 16.6 102 def Fremantle 11.7 73
WB Goalkickers:
Ugle-Hagan (4), Weightman (2), Naughton (2), Bontempelli, Lobb, Macrae, Hannan, McNeil, Williams, Dale, English

Rollovers and Substitutes
There were 23 rollover teams today. Seems like a few had got out of their weekly Pieman routine because of the bye!

Only 7 subs required, all for Rhylee West. The substitute order was Weightman, Bont, Naughton. Foxman98 and TiAn_ both got 2x Bont (38). theAthenian also got 1x Bont (19) while shacf501 got 2x Weightman (36). Good returns all round.

The KELVIN
The Kelvin this week goes to one of those rollover teams. Not just a casual rollover either. _Mike_ put in a team for Round 1 and has been letting it roll over every week since then. The only change to it happened in Rd 2 when Macrae came in as sub for Lobb. Today it finally came good with a Chump and a big score of 205.

Snarls Barkley (177) was the only non-Chump in the top 5. He came in second thanks to 3x Dale in his rollover team. Boyd oh Boyd (170) was a close third and the other two Chumps were Fossie 32 (169) and chez_ferret (165).

The PIEMAN
The field is starting to close in on Charlie Bucket and Curly5 who lost over 100 points to some of their top 10 challengers. Nonetheless CB still retains a very hand break of 138 points over second placed Curly5.

Pieman Player of the Week
Nice to see Marra get a well-earned PPotW. Dale nearly snatched it late in the game with his first goal of the year though (Marra with the GA!)

There were two way to get the best possible score - one was a Chump of 218 including a 62 point bonus, so Mike_ with 205 was pretty close to it.
The other non-Chump way was 3x Marra and 2x Dale which was also worth 218.

Pieman Player of the Year
Williams and Weightman are level pegging and quite a few others are close up behind them.

Next Two Rounds

I'm going to be away from Pie HQ for a couple of weeks so I'm not going to be able to publish the results for next week's Rd 17 game (v Collingwood) until some time after Rd 18. I'll still publish handicaps each week though so put your teams in as normal and I'll catch up when I get back. It should be business as usual after that.

Only 43 points between 7th and 13th.

But never mind the 8, I reckon you can make top 4! You're only 64 points off it now.

PIEMAN Rd 17 vs The Pie-Men

As noted above I'm going to be away for a couple of weeks so I'm posting this week's handicaps a little early. I'm guessing it'll be no change or maybe Richards will come in if he passes his fitness test. But who knows, there could be a surprise injury declared on Thursday night. It's happened before.

Anyway I'm posting handicaps for all players who are not on the injured list just in case there's a surprise selection. (And if for any reason I don't get to post the handicaps for Rd 18 v Syd we can work off this list next week.)

Also the Pieman results for Rds 17 and 18 won't be posted until a few days after the Sydney game. Sorry about that but it can't be helped.

Subs if needed this week are (in order): Ugle-Hagan, Weightman, Naughton, Dale, Macrae.

DW how do the subs work? Do we get those scores if we have the sub and they don’t come on?

Might be some confusion between WB subs (like West was last week) and Pieman subs.

You can’t choose someone in your Pieman team who is a WB sub. It was too problematical because some weeks they get zero game time, some weeks they get one quarter and some weeks they get nearly a whole game. I’ll review that in the off season if anyone really wants to pick the sub. It was especially problematic for Sunday games when teams are finalised late.

The Pieman sub is the player you get if one of your 5 doesn’t play. Usually that’s for rollover teams but it can happen if there’s a late withdrawal due to illness or whatever.
Your Pieman sub is the player (not already in your team) who kicked most goals last week. If equal it’s the one with the greater handicap value. If still equal the tie breaker is the one with lower jumper number.

Hope what you were looking for is in there somewhere!

I should have added that you don’t have to take the Pieman sub. If you would rather choose someone else and can do it before the game starts just post your change here (in a new post).

Ah ok, so does that mean I should have got Bont’s 38 like you said in your post or West’s 0s like in the spreadsheet? I think that’s why I’m confused

A data entry error is always a possibility! I’ll check it out when I can but it might have to be in a couple of weeks. I’m about to board a plane.

Remind me if I don’t get back to you. 🙂

Haha don’t think it will make much difference for me this year, cheers

Enjoy the trip!
After a very quick check it looks like I missed all of those who had West. I noted them correctly in the weekly results write-up but I think I posted the pre-sub results sheets by mistake.

Anyway, apologies to Foxman98 theAthenian and Shacf501 too. I will fix these up in a couple of weeks.
🙏

Good pickup TiAn!

No apologies necessary DW your sub picks are doing much better for me anyway
