The Suns have to be appealing for a coach. So much talent on that list and a bucket load more to come in over the next couple of seasons through their academy. That team should be a premiership threat and with the right coach, could become so pretty quickly.

They’re rich as via the hordes of drones visiting their pokie palace. Stuff-all actual football club supporters, though.
I had to become a member of Southport to get the pokie/drink deal they had going. I’ll also be a foundation member of the Windsor Bowls Club and the New Farm library if they ever win an AFL licence.

Let’s not kid ourselves they have 60 thousand rabid football-mad members.

Didn’t even hit a feature…

I'm already a member of the Windsor Bowls club

WTF?

They legitimised the good bloke discount?
Oh yes "Genuine remorse" LOL, how do they determine genuine, totally subjective, Nankervis might just be a good actor... it also implies that other players remorse in the past has not been genuine, ridiculous reason for a reduction in suspension.

Bit of a joke, but after the Cripps fiasco last year anything is feasible.

The argument against Southport was that they are the Collingwood of the Gold Coast.

Big supporter base, but every other teams supporters hate them, and were unlikely to support them at AFL level.

That is what they said about Port Power in SA. Lasts about 2 years, or some success.

Dew had 6 years, and they don't look any better.

Is Hardwick really the right man? He quit Richmond mid season with burnout and fatigue, and now after only a couple of months off he is the saviour? And he walks into a club that is in a worse situation than when he took over the tigers.
Lot more talent than the Tiggers when he arrived. Agree, not sure though if he is the right personality for them but who else?

He's still too "Richmond-y" to me. Keeps popping up in their social feeds, wearing the jumper and a beer on the first weekend game after he quit, posting about him watching Richmond game from US etc. He looks like someone who regrets walking away from Richmond rather than someone who's had enough with coaching. I think he needs a good year or two to be considered a neutral who can give his all at a new club.

If he ends up in Gold Coast, I won't be surprised if he joins Richmond players circle for a song after a win while wearing Gold Coast jumper.

If Hardwicke goes to GC it will be all about the PR and profile but doubt it will help the players more than someone really competent who's itching for an opportunity. There's a long list of legend coaches failing at lesser clubs.

I don't have the answers but no guarantee Hardwick is the panacea for GC's issues. He was spent and had lost his motivation. Not sure what the rationale is that he'll miraculously get it back . Except huge dollars might make him think he can.

If Hinkley misses out on a premiership and Port decides that's enough we're moving over to Josh Carr - he'd be the perfect fit for Gold Coast. He has a connection to the club, been an assistant there and comes across as someone with good gameday tactics and ability to motivate players. He could genuinely pull some players from Port to Gold Coast as well, as part of list refinement. It'll be the reverse of Dixon moving from Gold Coast to Port, if given a choice I'd prefer Hinkley than Hardwick. Hinkley would go hard if he doesn't win a flag at Port which will be added motivation.

I agree that Hardwick would struggle for motivation and giving his all in such a short timeframe after he walked away complaining of burnout. Gold Coast doesn't have to look too far, they have their assistant Rhyce Shaw who can provide a good insight of how keen he would be to have a second crack at senior coaching if anyone offers him one right now. While Burnout is not the same as mental health challenges Shaw was reported of, its a close parallel to a senior coach walking away and being motivated/ready for a second gig.

Did he coach Brennan?

Is the Suns list that good though? Ballard, King and Noah would get a game for us. Touk and Rowell probably borderline.

Future talent is promising, but thats been promised since their inception. Although Bailey Humphrey looks like he will be an absolute jet.

On Hardwick, I’ve even seen reports that his appointment will be enough to entice Dustin Martin to the Suns. I wouldn’t have thought a cooked Martin would do much for their list or really attract that many more through the gates. As you sort of said, I think the Suns should be looking elsewhere instead of a Hardwick, but you just know they want high profile.

Every team wants/needs a King. He would find a place on any team's list.
