Would reckon that this will be the new normal.
Yep.. agree.

Crows have a young lad, Will Hamill, who in his 5 years at the club has been concussed about 8 times now.. started wearing a helmet this year..

unfortunately he got knocked out again on the weekend in the SANFL game.

It sucks.. but with all that we now know and are finding out with every passing year about concussion and its effects.. surely the AFL has to step in and say to a young lad like Will (and others like him) “sorry mate, enough is enough.. we can no longer allow you to take the risk under our employment” and pay him out whilst ensuring he has access to the best medical care going forward.

the sanfl lost a young player to suicide just over a week or so ago.. looking very likely to be concussion related.

Seeds is still feeling the effects of his concussion 18 months later.. this stuff is life altering.. not to be messed with.

If you are suggesting CTE being behind a young player’s suicide, no, that is very far from likely. CTE typically onsets 8-10 years after the incidents - which are repetitive mild traumas, rather than massive lights out KOs.

It's a complex medical issue. AFL need to be guided by experts in the field. They don't need fans telling them to ban players from the sport based on the vibe of an arbitrarily selected number of knock outs.

I’m just going by his families statements in the last week or so..

With Paul Seedsman.. the effects have been instantanious.. he was injured 18 months ago and has been suffering relentlessly/daily ever since.. at this point he’d have to be thinking that this is the norm for the remainder of his life.. which must be utterly terrifying for the lad.

So I think it can easily be said that its different from patient to patient.. some wont show symptoms for 8-10 years.. some from 5 years.. who knows, some may not get effects until 30 years after they retire.. For some, like Paul, its immediately after the injury occurs..

But I do take your point that it may not be CTE.. but its definitely concussion related..

Sad situation but sorry, you cannot make the blanket statement, "its definitely concussion related". Neither can the family.

Agree totally. We're getting into immunisation and autism territory here.

There are very few experts in the world on the long term impacts of concussion. But there's an ever-growing group of concussion "experts".

Huh, I chose not to watch this week when I saw it was all ex Carlton players on. Front Bar & Andy Maher in particular, have been extra painful the past 7 weeks. That show is only enjoyable when Blues & Richmond are playing shite.
In fairness, Christou and Kouta often talk about how they loved the Pies & Daicos.

Christou told a story that he could have touched one of Daicos' goals but let it through so he could feature in Daicos' highlights reel of top 10 goals. Also claimed he faked injury to skip a match so that his 100th game would be against the Pies.
(other times they've talked about when Daicos laid a bump on Christou early in his career he told Kouta he'd been touched by god).

I personally can't think of anything worse than watching the Front Bar when Carlton are playing well.

And then to fill it up with ex Carlton players as guests is further reason not to watch.

No thanks.

Kouta’s son used to barrack for Collingwood. Maybe still does. Same as Nick used to barrack for Blues.

The North board.
Discussing Salary cap free up:

"Did some rough calculations / guesstimations:
Let's say Cunners was on $600k for his final 2 yr contract (mutual agreement to pay out 50% of 2024 coin).
Jack Z would have been on $600k
Hall $400k.
(Haven't included Ben McKay @ say $450k but will include his compo pick assuming he's gonski).
There's $1.3m freed up in 2024.

Pick 2,3 &16 will come in at Max $150k (if they all have a Sheezel type year)...."

So North are paying him $450Kpa but are going to get Pick 3 compo for him? (no club will nearly double his pay to ~$800kpa for pick 3 compo)

Can go either way, galvanise or distract, disrupt.
I think it depends on how much is true - very hard to galvanize unless there’s a perceived injustice ( ie allegations are false) against Goodwin. Which might not be the case and sending Richardson to Vegas with Goodwin as a chaperone doesn’t help perceptions.

So the Crows have missed a finals spot due to a dodgy decision on a goal.
The ump called a behind and it wasn't reviewed because nobody called for one.
The replay clearly shows it was a goal.
That after we got screwed for 2 goals against Geelong & Melbourne missed out against the scum.
The AFL need to rejig the whole review system.
Every goal where there's the slightest doubt needs to be looked at, and the scope of reviews needs to be broadened to include incidents like Cameron's "goal" after they played on OOB.

Umpire was literally in the best position and he absolutely shat the bed, this is the reason the reviews were introduced and to not call for it at all is just is just mind boggling. This decision has more ramifications than just Adelaide out of finals.

The AFL say it was a "mistake", but that doesn't help the Crows.
The review should have been automatic.
