Got to be a shoe in for rising star. Jess hogan is only FWD to kick more goals than Amiss in his rising star season.

Can't wait to see him after he has done a full pre-season

Sheezel has it wrapped up. The footy world decided it weeks ago.

Amiss top 15 for goals. Sheezel top 10 for disposals. Obviously pending the rest of the round.

Sheezel deserves it, but Ashcroft and Owens do not deserve it more than Amiss

Always been a 2 horse race since Ashcroft went down.

I don't buy the Owens stuff either. Amiss or Sheez, can't go wrong either way.

I think he's guaranteed to be top 4 for the Rising Star, Jye shouldn't be concerned with meaningless awards at the end of the day, he should be very proud of the season that he's had, and he'll only continue to get better as his career goes on, he should be challenging himself to kick at least 50 goals next year now.

As much as like the look of some of what JVR has done I don’t think there would be anyone saying we got this pick wrong.

Yeah yeah we could have had both but from the 2 Jye goes first every time.

Stone cold star already. Brilliant contested marking with his body work & positioning which will only get better as he gets stronger. Brilliant lead up & mark player, very good below his knees in general play & can kick a snap.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to liken him to Jeremy Cameron. Maybe not as long a kick but better at using his body for contested marks.

I agree he’s got similarities to Cameron but also a bit more of a true full forward like Josh Kennedy IMO.

Cameron's standout trait is athleticism. Don't reckon Jye has that but what I do think he has is better/as good everything else. At least as talented at contested marking, leading patterns, body work and ground ball.

Since Jackson and Treacy are good up the ground and quality field kicks, he doesn't even need the tank anyway.

Amiss gets me all hot and bothered.

41 goals has exceeded the expectations of most. He’s the smartest and cleanest tall we’ve had forward of centre since Pavlich. Absolute jet.

This may appear to be cherry picking data, but all the same;

No other AFL player in the 2000's has kicked 40+ goals in a season at such a young age as Jye Amiss (41 of Freo's 271 goals for 2023).

The last time an AFL Player kicked 40+ goals in a season at a younger age than Jye Amiss (20y 26d) was in 1998.
Lance Whitnall who was just 18y 344d old when he reached 40 goals in his 2nd season.
Whitnall ended the 1998 season with 46 goals of Carlton's 293 goals for that season.

Some other notable mentions;
Jeremy Cameron in his 2nd season in 2013, kicked 62 goals. He reached 40 goals for the season at an age of 20y 110d.
Lance Franklin in his 3rd season in 2007, kicked 73 goals. He reached 40 goals for the season at an age of 20y 158d.
Matthew Richardson in his 2nd season in 1994, kicked 56 goals. He reached 40 goals for the season at a very young age of 19y 120d.

I'm not inferring Jye will be as great as those listed above, but those stats are still worth digesting to better understand just how big an accomplishment his 40+ goals is for such a young player. A tremendous effort worth celebrating.

Some idiots ranked him 4th out of 5. Nuts. The afl is amateur hour. So called experts are no better than couch potatoes watching 2-3 games a week. They would have seen Amiss 3-4x max through the year.
Spot on. The two people in that article who ranked him higher than 4th were the two not Vic based - Whiting in Brisbane (who had him 2nd behind Ashcroft) and our boy Nathan.
