I don't have any concerns about retaining Reid if he comes over. Reid himself hasn't been vocal about wanting to stay in Victoria from what I've seen.

If he wants to leave eventually like Judd did then we'll be very well compensated.
Well don't blame the kid if he requests to leave, because unlike JHF he has at least given you plenty of warning prior to the draft.

That said, if he does go to you I hope he works, because if not he will probably go to the doggies or the bombers when they flatline next year =D

He hasn't said anything of the sort though.

Anyway, don't want to overstay my welcome. When he comes over he'll be in good hands, hopefully we're both happy with our hauls! :)

Souup could I get your opinion on what you think about Mckercher’s testing numbers being so poor? Seems rapid out on the field, highly agile etc.

For the record:
74cm vertical
3.094 20m (1.286 over the first 5m which is very slow for a midfielder)
8.452 agility
960 yo-yo

When I see numbers like this that seemingly contradict what can be seen on the field, I tend to take them with a grain of salt.

I think two areas in which I suspect Mckercher is very good but aren't/can't be tested are repeat sprints and spatial awareness. If you watch him play closely, these things really stand out.

Probably my favourite traits. Pendles has built a 400 game career out of them to become one of the GOAT's.

Publicly he's rolled out the "family" line.

He and his manager have made it clear what they prefer behind closed doors, make no mistake about that.

A lot to play out with Reid - WC may be happy to take the gamble and grab him. I would if I was them. He’s the best player in the draft and he fills a position they need.

If we trade for him I’d be stoked. We need as many game breakers as we can get. Guys who want to be the best and lead from the front.

I may cope some flak for this from more experienced draft watchers, but geez Curtin moves like a midfielder when the ball is in offensive transition. Has not been his day today, but still a lot to like.

Seems like I'm not the only one that sees his midfield potential.

Nope. Said it a few times already. He looks a better midfielder than a KPD.

Anyone talking of drafting Curtin as a KPD need to get their eyes checked.

This is a bit rude. You and I and everyone else is welcome to their opinion but none of us are talent scouts. We're just guys on an internet forum. I believe that he has the capability to be a very good KPD. You and I disagree on this point. Neither of us need to get our eyes checked.

Yes there is. Reid can play anywhere. I imagine they will be starting Mckercher outside of the centre square. Sanders is the only one that will require CBA. If our current midfielders get pushed out by Sanders or other players that come to the club, that's on them. It's not like we are currently dominating games with our current mid group.

Yeah but who are our KPD's? Corr and ? And even then, Corr is realistically only a 3rd tall.

I agree with this.

Curtin has the potential to be an offensive weapon with his skills and reading of the play across HB.

Also, he will be a different player when he puts on 10kg plus in 5 years in the system.

But the game has moved past the "Lockett" power forwards anyway. It's about mobility, being able to play a variety of roles and run now.

Best available is lazy nonsense. It got us into this mess and can go f... itself. Our list is embarrassingly imbalanced; this draft is our best chance to fix that.

Then if it's not best available which is a no brainer in my opinion then who do you suggest we take with our picks.

Yep, once Tex and Hawkins retire those gorillas are starting disappear. Harry McKay has been worked out, guys like Tom Lynch and Jeremy Cameron will cause some headaches but the new prototype forward is Curnow and you need to be very flexible to keep those types quiet.

Our list is woefully imbalanced, we need talls and lots of them. If we lose Ben and Goldy, we will only have two proven talls on our list. Plus Xerri, who could make it, and Comben, who should if his body lets him. That's it. This draft has plenty of KPP rated in the first round, we need to take at least two and preferably more. If dropping back is the best way to do that we should.

I'd argue one of Jeremy Cameron's biggest weapons is his mobility. Someone like Curtin could be ideal.
