Yeah no doubt, I’m happy to use a list spot on an injury prone player so long as they’ve got a lot of talent. Plenty of success stories in the past, I mean there’s plenty here who would have canned Wood if they had their way and he’s a premiership captain now. There’s been a lot worse than him - but yeah 2nd day back after missing the whole season last year. That hurts
Be careful though, when you say he’s worth the keeping as the 44th player on the list some people will only hear “Dom Bedendo is the next Leigh Matthews”.

You reminded me of Cam Faulkner (next McLeod)

I liked Cam but never really made the most of his talent

That was my underlying inference. 😉

Those days when we used to try to nab 'the next <insert name of oppo superstar>"... at least these days other teams are trying to find the next Bont, Naughton or JUH... or pinch our ones!

Rory Lobb: "Welcome to the club Nick. Now you know how I felt last year having my leads ignored."

Pretty exciting pre-season for us when you consider it’ll be the first full pre-season for Busslinger and Clarke, as well as this year’s five draftees. Gallagher’s coming off an injury interrupted year as well.

Our depth now includes 8 recent national draft picks (none mature agers) that are yet to debut. Hopefully they all make it through pre-season healthy. It’s a much better spot for the list to be in than previous years.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Freijah played reasonably early - he’s already got enough size for an outside role, he’s got the work rate & tank. He’s also from what I’ve seen got a pretty simple game to him, he has an efficient style - I reckon he’ll get up to speed and the only players really in front of him are Baker & Poulter and if he’s any chop he’ll move past them in the rankings pretty quickly.

Could be wrong but my early call is he’s a somewhat mainstay in the side in the 2nd half of the season

He went past Baker as soon as we drafted him for me

I don't know anything about how ready he is, but from a list perspective, he's certainly the draftee with the least competition standing in the way of an early debut.

Our current wings are named not because they excel or are particularly natural in the position, but because they hold structure and run hard - both things that a switched on kid with a good aerobic base can manage. If he can get close to matching Poulter/Williams/Baker/Scott on that front and show some offensive scope, I wouldn't be surprised to see him feature early either.

I'm not so sure about that. He was pretty inconsistent last year from the bits and pieces I've seen.
Could look a million bucks one week (6 goals) but other games a bit scrappy and unsure.
It's probably just a confidence or preparation thing and also just knowing when to go in as an outside player but I think he'll need a bit of time to get his confidence up against lesser opposition.

Both things that are also identified as Joel's strengths.
