Mic’d up with Dylan Moore “F*** yeah lads”.
Some how only the last two words were captioned

Anybody at training?
Yep.

Very solid session, from just on 9 to 11.30-ish or later. (I left with them winding down) Sam Mitchell not there today; nor Will Day obviously

Chad did running...nothing explosive; did some sneaky shots at goal at the beginning of training.

Lewis continued full training after resuming on Saturday, despite his debilitating injury and subsequent death last week (allegedly)

Gunners doing most things; don't think he was in the scratch match

The usual repetitive drills; ball movement, handball drills in close, tackling, some wrestling. Different stations across the field, to which small groups of about 10 players moved rapidly between. As Sam has said, drilling specifics of match play rather than player development seems to be a focus; knowing exactly where to look and where to be in match play; making ball movement instinctive, quick and precise

A short scratch match, about 12 on 12, across the middle of the oval (two short goals on the wing boundary lines). Ball movement was good. While this was happening, the others did forward line drill work, and then rotated into the scratch match.

More running at the end. It will be the death of Clay Tucker, I think ...Blancky I don't think loved it either. Chol seems to be able to cope a bit better

Ginnivan and DGB, and later Ward left before the running. Nothing apparent, just player minute/load management, I'm sure. Weddle is just a ridiculous athletic machine. (Apologies, media says Ginnivan had 'a very minor corkie')

It takes me long to recognise individual players doing things, so I cant help too much in that regard, so let me just say [insert player name here] is training the house down

Does the club not do training camps anymore or just not this year?
Not sure about that, but I have noticed in the last couple years that there is a bit of talk in the media about the heavily reduced time commitments players have at clubs compared to 10 years ago as a result of the AFLPA. I'm thinking perhaps preseason camps may no longer be feasible with the limited hours clubs can have the players?

If nothing else, Mitch Lewis is a true renaissance man. Do you happen to know if he spent last week dead for tax reasons?

PS Thanks for the report BTW!

I went along and don’t have a whole heap that eldorado hasn’t said.

Saw Ginnivan and Denver’s knocks. Ginnivan’s didn’t seem too bad. Looked like a corkie in a drill up the eastern end of the ground. He was hobbling pretty badly up the stairs though. Denver looked like he tweaked his ankle in the scratch match. He seemed to walk okay back up the stairs.

Wardy and Frosty did a fair bit of running on the far side. D’Ambrossio didn’t participate in the drills early but did play in the scratch match. Drilled a couple of nice passes. Interestingly, he and Weddle were the last to leave the track, practicing some 1-1 marking.

I thought Gunners was in everything (including the modified scratch match across the ground). Could’ve sworn I saw him a couple of times in the forward line up the far end.

A couple of other things I noticed.
  • Weddle is a machine. His running was again on show. Looks like he does it much easier than everyone. He goes alright in the drills and match sim stuff too.
  • I liked seeing Meek and Chol compete pretty hard in a marking drill. Both had a good crack.
  • Morrison stood out in the match sim for me. His kicking on his left is quite impressive.
  • Denver took a great grab and nailed some really nice kicks before getting injured.
  • Worpel and Newcombe look in good nick. Think they’ll have good seasons.
  • Liked hearing some sledging from Moore. Denver was matched up on Chol (Chol on his yellow team) and Moore was getting into him saying he loved the match up and he remembers the prelim (assuming that was in reference to Box Hill and GC last year).
  • Of the young blokes, Hustwaite, McCabe and Ryan stood out for me.
The only one I can’t remember seeing at all in some capacity was Bennetts. Saw Daysy upstairs watching behind the glass.
