What a fantastic doco, absolutely brilliant. The insights from Fly, Pendles, Darcy & Nick really pull you in. Nick must have been riding an emotional roller-coaster wondering if he'd get back in time - thank God he did. Darcy in his car after the Prelim, just wow. Pendles talking about this probably being his last chance. Fly's speeches to the playing group, no wonder they love him. Loved the players doing to chant in the rooms after the GF.

I hope they make this available to stream or buy, because as John Locke said in Lost 'We're gonna need to watch that again.'

Saw it this arvo behind enemy lines in Brissie. Was surprised that the theatre was completely full. Most in attendance were on the older side and were in pies gear. It pleased me immensely to get to be around like minded folk while living in a rugby state (not to mention in the city of the team that we beat in the GF).

I loved it. The symbolism and props used by Fly. Also:

Fly driving home after the prelim and yelling go pies to supporters walking home who had no idea who he was. "Cool story old man" 😂

Darcy's mini breakdown after the prelim. I always respected his mental toughness, the way he would grin while marching onto the ground for finals. And my respect for him only increased seeing that he was actually human in this scene.

Then the bit about Moore and the superstitious cup thing at the parade was brilliantly edited and just hilarious. The nervous looks on everyone's faces. 😂

As an aside, I am really grateful for Fly's philosophy of the fans being the 24th man and "bringing the army with us for the ride". It's one of those things that's easy to say and not mean it, but I think he has proved how genuine he is with that attitude by allowing the access to his life that he has in this doco. IIRC before the parade and one of the training sessions he instructed the players to engage positively with the fans.

So he not only lead us to our 16th flag but he included us in the experience to a degree that I don't believe any coach of any team has done before. Anyone who was involved in the decision to employ Fly as our coach deserve praise.

I saw it this afternoon. My overwhelming reaction - it’s very funny! My Pies mates and I laughed all the way through it. Nervous laughter? Maybe. But we absolutely loved it.

Some of the funniest moments - Darcy Moore hanging onto the premiership cup at the end of the GF Parade. You need to see it.

As for Fly - his emotional intelligence is off the charts. Finally, we nailed it with this man.

Now I’m pumped for the new season.😍

Which suburb did you see it at? I almost went last night to Sunnybank ( I think ) but decided against it as going to the movies reminds me too much of the ex wife and like you I wasn't sure what going to a Brisbane cinema for it would be like.
I remember going to Year of the dogs with a Footscray supporter on the GC and was surprised at how many people were there.

Saw it Saturday ... no spoilers... but can only encourage people to go see it at the cinema if you can and watch it amongst the army. Don't wait for a streaming release. 2 young blokes next to us were from Ballarat as apparently there isn't a Hoyts there!? ... I have no doubt they thought it worth the trip in.

Yeah it was Sunnybank. Had those comfy recliner chairs. Sorry to hear about the ex wife thing, I'd encourage you to push through anyway and go see it, try and let those thoughts go through to the keeper.

When booking online it looked like all sessions yesterday were 2 thirds booked out or more. Nice to see the army strong wherever I go. At this point I think I could travel to Mars and still find a group of Collingwood supporters there somewhere.

The film showed that the imagery and props that Fly used last year really seemed to connect with and galvanise the playing group.

Will be a hard act to follow this season. I wonder what he’ll use? Looking forward to finding out when watching this year’s post-Premiership doco.

Loved it.... but two little critical observations. The noise level of the crowds in each final was very muted and for me that was a big disappointment. The whole mantra throughout the doco was the passion and noise of the Magpie army which is like no other. Being in a theatre I was expecting booming stereophonic, spinetingling atmosphere and on that front I was disappointed.

I recall the spinetingling noise in the prelim when Beau's snap put us in front. That atmosphere was not captured.

The other was the speed with which the game footage was shown and the brevity of each scene almost made it difficult to absorb what you were seeing. I also wondered why they didn't show the Maynard collision. There may be copyright factors involved but I thought there might be a little more slow motion action and slow build up of onfield action to build the tension. It all seemed a little rushed and disjointed.

That seems like a lot of criticism but the experience was still wonderful and I shed tears on more than one occasion. We have a mighty football club populated by some amazing people.

Bring on 2024.

PS. Darcy Cameron has a future career in comedy awaiting him.

How good was this! I wish I could see it again - have to maybe go a second time this weekend!

I literally had tears from laughing at Darcy Moore retelling the holding onto the cup part. Was so funny.

I saw it at Northland Hoyts at 1.30pm yesterday in a pretty full cinema. When I came out, I saw a number of people in collingwood gear going in for another session.

I wore my premiers cap and a collingwood top. Was surprised more weren't in Collingwood stuff.

I am hoping that we hear something later this week about an 'alternate' release.

The earliest I am anywhere near a Hoyts cinema is this Sunday 10 March. However, there are no screenings at any cinemas for Take the Steps beyond this Wednesday 6 March: the days are there to be clicked on, but it says that nothing's available. I'm thinking that this may mean that the cinema release is only for one week, and a streaming version may be arriving soon.

It would seem quite foolish if there was literally no place or no method to watch the film post-6/03, especially as we approach round zero and the subsequent week's flag unfurling.

Good news, Taking The Steps is getting an airing on Seven next Wednesday it appears according to guides they’ve released

Nice! Screenshot? I can't find any guides past Sunday 10 March

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

The contrast between the 2018 one which was bloody fantastic and now this one.
