But round zero? Why not just start the season on the long weekend?
I've wondered this for years.

They could have Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and a Monday game if they wanted. But no instead we get this half-arsed interstate opening that have 60% capacity crowds and still feels like pre-season.

Krakour's must be hard up for a dollar again... through old connections I kinda knew who he was doing the trafficking for. Heard for all his convictions he got away with 10x more. Jimmy's criminal history makes for interesting reading. No wonder Andrew followed him into prison.

"In 1974, Krakouer, at the age of 16, was convicted of rape in Albany Court; despite maintaining the sex was consensual..[9] He was convicted in the same court of driving causing death in 1976.[10] In 1985, Krakouer was convicted of 26 counts of sexual penetration of a minor, assault, abduction and unlawful imprisonment.[11] Despite being very well paid during his career, Krakouer was a problem gambler and frittered away all of his money.[12] Consequently, Krakouer turned to crime to get by. In 1996, Krakouer was convicted and imprisoned for 16 years for his part in a drug-trafficking scheme transporting amphetamines from Melbourne to Perth. Having served nine years of his sentence, he was released on work release in August 2004. He has also had restraining orders held against him due to his violent behaviour.[13][14]

In September 2023, Jim and Phil Krakouer, along with six other former AFL players who played football between 1975 and 2022, launched a class action lawsuit against the AFL in the Supreme Court of Victoria, alleging that the AFL failed to protect players from racial abuse on the field.[15][16]"
sheedys a known racist has been for years

sheedys a known racist has been for years

Sheedy has done more for Aboriginals in AFL than anyone else. Regardless I'm on the jury and a highly regarded well decorated bloke like Sheedy says his version then a degenerate who's criminal past is as long as your arm speaks. He said/ she said. No contest on ya bike go get a job and earn a living. What next lawsuits for every onfield indiscretion and act of violence/ dirty play???

No free Lmao.
A Richmond player got pinged for this.
FArkin Umpies,cheaty cheats.

I'm a bit different to most here these days but if you choose to tackle like that and the player gets severely injured then you should be charged for rough conduct.

No different to how if you choose to bump and your opponent is hit in the head you get suspended. McCreery didn't need to tackle like that. What's the bet next year Vlastuin tackles someone like that and gets pinged a week.

Why on earth would dummy Cox think he is some intimidating player that is feared with that dumb stunt. Mumford just had a classic “ look at this tool “ look on his face . Big Mason will definitely break records for most games played by the most unskilled unco player to have played the game . You just get the feeling this year could be his very worst.

I remember on the train on the way to the game there was talk of mummy running through our players like skittles

Then Cotch saw his opportunity and took the campaigner out, he was like a heat-seeking missile :D

The claim argues the AFL “owed the abused players a duty to take reasonable care for their safety and to avoid exposing them to unnecessary risk of personal injury in connection with the abuse risk of harm” and “the AFL had an obligation to provide the abused players with a safe system of work during and in connection with matches, analogous to the duty owed by an employer to an employee”.

It says it was clear such abuse was occurring and had occurred previously yet nothing was done to provide a safe workplace. The Peek Rule, to penalise players for racial abuse, was introduced only after former Bomber Michael Long complained of being racially abused by Collingwood’s Damian Monkhorst in 1995.

Oh ho ho...this claim gets up the RFC ought to take The AFL Old Boys Club to court as well...for the hardships and personal injuries and loss of possible earnings to their players...created by the AFL/Umpires with their adjudicating of the game in an adverse and unfair manner! Creating a culture of intimidation and unfairness...all to see via the Free Kick disparity for over 7 years!
