How did they get sold out crowds last week? Was the AFL giving tickets away? After all the back-slapping last week about "Round Zero" crowds, GWS and Gold Coast followed up with less than 20,000 attendees combined today.
Only a single NRL match played in West Sydney this weekend, and that was on Friday. Gold Coast Titans in the NRL had a bye this weekend as well.
Both stadiums at less than half capacity (2 in 3 seats vacant for GWS vs North), very disappointing turnout figures.
Still have a long way to go in the northern states.

I was amazed at the crowd numbers, given I didn't even register the season had started (it felt like another round of pre-season).
A lot of SE.QLD Richmond fans signed up with the Suns this year. Most headed down to Melbourne for a long footy weekend, so cut the Suns members by a third.Travelling Richmond and Collingwood fans
It's much better on the other side out of the sun. 30 in melb today.Crowd looking pathetic for the Dogs v Dees.
They've got no real targets to go to; Fritsch is having an off day, and Van Rooyen is still too young.Melbourne have some of the worst forward 50 entry and decision making I've seen.
Thats why i tipped the dogsThey've got no real targets to go to; Fritsch is having an off day, and Van Rooyen is still too young.
Still can't believe the Dees didn't make a play for Darling.Thats why i tipped the dogs
I forgot the dogs forwards were this innacurate.
I thought Billings played for St Kilda.
The conditions favoured Adelaide. A blue collar side missing key talks targets.Harsh on all fronts I reckon.
Gold Coast early in the season in these conditions is a bit of a nightmare fixture.
Not the conditions for a tall forward either.
Not reading much into this re: Adelaide's prospects this year.
