Sure and if that happens then perfect.

On no level is this season acceptable - no matter how positive we can try and be there needs to be accountability come the end of the season.

From my perspective there are two very obvious ones:

Kevin White
And either Rawlings or Clayton (doubt we would get rid of both)
At least one change of assistant coaches as well
Why Kevin White?

Our injury list has been brilliant this year.

Great letter from Sonja - her best yet. She just about addressed everything - short of pulling on a guernsey and lining up against WC. Reading between the lines, you can see she’s hurting. I bet she longs for the days when she could just sh1t post on BF! 🤣

I’m not exactly sure I thought he would be in charge of keeping the squad fit, healthy and on the field.

Could be wrong.
My point is our fitness is an issue and age isn’t an excuse considering other sides with a similar profile. It provides some leeway but not to the extent to justify.

We can’t run out quarters - anything past the 20 minute mark and we’re watching that clock like fat ****s.

Yeah i get you, feel like it probably has a bit to do with our age profile as well.

Look, I am not saying things are perfect in that department. But, if I am creating a list of areas we need to fix that one is on the lower end.

List decisions, recruiting and player development are my big ones.

Dylan Stephens playing 2s for us right now is almost inconceivable.

Our inability to fill list holes through recruitment of mature players from other clubs is just horrible. Look at our list and tell me given the ability to go back in time how many of our recruits from other clubs would you do again.

I have 1 Griff.

where the club which I guess is Sonja has dropped the ball is not calling out the media for the ‘should of tanked’ claims. I would be calling out the afl as well, they’re happy for their accredited journalists to criticise a side for not losing on purpose.
Yeah what we need is more fuel to the fire and headlines. I'd rather they be not engaging in that stuff because that's what the media wants.

Let the story die on its own or idiot journalists get ridiculed on twitter instead. The club can't take any stances unless a staff member has been named or someone has a target on their head. Just like when Caro went after Steve Saunders saying he had been overruling the club doctor with zero evidence to back it up and JB got fired up forcing Caro to apologise for the baseless accusation.

The club should comment on what it can control and act if someone has been unfairly accused (e.g. Clarko Hawthorn saga currently).

Need to run a tight ship and stay on the path not letting external noise get to us.

Is he in charge of fitness?

If not I apologise to Kevin White.

He's been the Head of Performance since the start of the 2022 season.

Head of Performance, not fitness.

We've won 5 out of 56 games in that time.

Whats the point of this statement? If anything it proves how we are worse off than what they realised at the beginning of the year.

I like Sonja so no dramas there but what kind of annoys me is the (the wins will come) in brackets just assuming that everything will be peachy. Absolutely no guarantee things come good while this club continues to free fall.
The point is people have been whinging that the prez hasnt said anything while rome burns, so she puts a statement out and people whine, reality is while your not winning your on a hiding to nowhere.

some people just love to whine about everything...If we won the GF they would complain that we didnt win by enough or we won eventhough we didnt get enough frees or some player should not have played and didnt deserve to be playing. You just cannot please some people.

I think Eddie's idea about moving our training base to the Northern suburbs, is a good one.

I think once we have a clear long term plan, this will strengthen the club.

ATM we are an easy target, because no-one knows what will happen to North, once they exit Tasmania.

So abandon Arden St? And what does the northern suburbs as a training base offer the club after Tasmania? There's no ferry to the northern suburbs whose promotions budget can be accessed to become a key sponsor. And if you survey the housing estates around Cranbourne, you won't find any uptick in Melbourne supporters after they pitched a tent at Casey Fields.

No one is saying abandon Arden st. It's all about growth. Nth Melbourne is a small suburb. Even with the redevelopment, how many new residents. The North of Melbourne is projecting growth the size of Canberra, to house the growing population of Melbourne. And North having a training base in the area, has a chance to grow its supporter base. Can still use Arden st and the North of Melbourne training base in conjunction. Don't forget, you are talking about 3 programs. AFL VFL AFLW

As always, Sonja's email was perfect. It sat perfectly between "Nothing to see here" and hitting the panic button. It reflected what members are thinking without speaking to us like idiots - not buying into catastrophising, blame shifting or sugar coating.

Are they just words? Yes. She's the president. Aside from sacking people, that's all she has. Talk is cheap but her currency for football department change at the start of June is zero. At the end of August it's huge.

That's when we'll judge her actions. For now her words are fine.

Just another pointless fluff piece

Means nothing to me anyways

It's pretty simple. Training bases do nothing to attract supporters. Melbourne has no supporters in Cranbourne. StKilda picked up no new members in Seaford. Collingwood doesn't have a fanbase in East Melbourne. And Essendon is not any more popular in Tullamarine.

Yep. Be better off having a second playing home in Bendigo, or share Ballarat with the Bulldogs where the stadium overheads are low and a crowd of at least 10,000 is likely even when we’re crap v 3,000 in Hobart.

Footnote: I’d prefer we play every home game at Marvel but Regional Vic for a couple is next best.

I’d take Fisher again.

Four programs. We also have a VFLW team, who btw, won tonight and are now two games inside the top 6 with two games to go.

As for Sonja's letter, I thought it was informative and optimistic, which is something we need after a very depressing and disheartening first half of the season, and she made mention of a couple of things I didn't know about, so overall I was happy to hear from the President. Keep up the good work Doc.

There is a sports precinct planned in Cloverton and the Hume City Council would love to turn it into a boutique stadium. The town centre is 4 times the size of the Melbourne cbd, and will be Australia’s largest masterplanned community.

No one is saying to abandon Arden St, but Melbourne does need a third AFL stadium.

This will be the city centre of Melbourne in 20 years time, the same way Waverley was back in the 60s.

Nothing hurts the club by sitting down and having a conversation about it.

Uh no, this will be the centre of Melbourne in 20 years time:

Simply wanting a boutique stadium doesn't make a council special. When the time comes for the prophesised 3rd venue to be built, I guarantee it won't be in some middle-of-nowhere shithole.
