Well folks this week isn't one I'm particularly looking forward to. While it's been fun playing Carlton over the last 10 years as we won 12 lost 2 and had a draw I get the feeling that this week will be anything but fun for us Tigers fans.

Carlton come into this game having easily dispatched Geelong last Friday night by 10 goals where they tuned up with a 9 goal last term. As much as we all dislike Carlton, they are looking pretty good as a team at the moment, their defence is quite solid, their midfield grinds teams into the dirt and their forwards in McKay & Curnow have shared the last 3 Coleman Medals between them and look on track to add another at the end of the year.

Meanwhile our season has been shot since very early on when the injury crisis began and hasn't looked like ending any time soon as we seem to be constantly getting someone back then losing 2 more the following week. Our back like has been battling against the odds all year and this weekend will be no different, our midfield has spent more time in the stands than on the ground and while we may get Hopper back this week we're still going to be up against it with the Blues at near full strength in the middle, while I'll be amazed if we manage to kick more than 6 goals this weekend with Lynch once again injured and the rest of the forward line have barely fired a shot this year.

So what can we gain from this game that may make it worthwhile attending or watching, it may sound cheesy, but for me it's watching the likes of Ralphsmith Dow McAuliffe Brown Mansell Cumberland Sonsie Campbell & Miller and seeing the gradual improvement from them, even though some still are polarizing the fan base, they are the bright light from this horror season.

Possible Line Up:
Out: Lynch Cumberland
In: Blight Hopper

B: Blight Miller Broad
HB: Brown Vlastuin D.Rioli
C: McIntosh Taranto Ralphsmith
HF: Mansell Bolton Baker
F: Balta Martin Koschitzke
R: Nankervis Hopper Dow
INT: Campbell McAuliffe Sonsie Short Graham

Result
Well it's going to be ugly and the only thing that stops that from happening is if it pisses down rain all weekend and turns the game into a slog, even then we'll be lucky to get within 6 goals of the Blues, if it doesn't rain then we could be looking at a Brisbane/Bulldogs type of margin.

Agree with you RT, this is going to be a real tough one for the boys. The Blues are the real deal, they have the ability to put teams to the sword in the blink of an eye with stars all over the ground and their role players have all stepped up big time.

I don't know if it's because of our poor performance against the Hawks or the fresh injury woes (Lynch) but I am finding it hard to see a way we keep it close for any meaningful amount of time. Hopefully the boys are fired up and dig in and compete as best they can for 4 quarters, that is all we can ask for IMO.

I am looking forward to seeing Balta and Miller take on McKay and Curnow, particularly Miller. He is having a good year, hopefully he can back it up against probably the best key forward combo in the league. He may end up with a bag kicked on him, especially if the ball is living in our D50 but I am looking for him to win his share of 1v1s.

With Lynch now out, Kosi will hold his place and not sure what we will do with the other KF spot given Ryan is also out. Could Gray debut? Or Blight and they throw Balta forward again? I think it's a big ask for a debutant and Miller to take on Curnow and McKay, so I lean towards a Gray debut or we play with just Kosi as the big forward and go smaller around him (Dusty playing as a pseudo-key forward as he does) but I find that unlikely as Kosi will have to ruck as well. I think we will see another debutant this week.

remember the ground zero game , wouldve won if the umps didnt gift them multiple soft free shots infront of goals , and we had 4 players out of the game !

When’s the last time the blues beat us by 100?

Also, what’s the most 100 point losses that we’ve had in a year
We had 3 100+ losses in 2006

Drop Kosi and replace him with Blight - his interecepting marking are a feature of his game - has the size to play him forward !

Weitering is going to go head to head with Kosi

Sky is falling again?

Backline is unchanged ...
Midfield is actually better ...

Bring in:
Jacob Bauer for Cumberland
Gray for Lynch
Hopper (who should be playing this week in the VFL) for Graham (who should be playing a month in the VFL)

AND leave the backline alone
